Put a shirt over clothes, it hides the stuff.

No wonder it is getting harder and harder to move around…
Yesterday/last year (heh) we had stupid errands that needed doing. Like laundry. The laundromat was… insane. Worse than I’ve ever seen it. We were very lucky, we got our stuff out of the washer and straight into some dryers. About 5 minutes later, there were so many people standing around waiting to use the dryers, and they had to wait for quite a while. There was one family who were set up at the folding table right next to us, and I overheard them worrying about having to go home with wet clothes because someone needed to go to work or something. So every time one of our dryers finished and I could consolidate the still-wet things (this laundromat has free dryers if you wash there, but they are set for 20 minutes at a time which is rarely enough) into one machine, I let them know so they could follow me and get their stuff going. Which lead to me having someone talking to me while I was trying to fold clothes. Nice, but a touch distracting.
After what felt like 10 years at the laundromat, we were finally done and I was sweating and so excited to be getting out of there. It’s so weird to be walking around in just a long-sleeve shirt on the last day of the year. Nice though. I’m hoping this moderately-weathered December does not mean lots of snow once I have a newborn to worry about as well. I’m really hoping it means just a rather un-snowy winter season. Not like I can play in the snow at the moment, so I have no need for it. We went to the mall where I was going to get a haircut but couldn’t be bothered. Instead we just ate lunch and bought me some new socks. As we walked past the dollar store I noticed they had AN ENTIRE WALL OF SOCKS and I have an obsession with socks (but I haven’t bought any new ones in…. possibly 2 years? I’m pretty awesome) so I couldn’t NOT look. They had these long, fluffy, stripey bed-sock type things, with grips on the bottom that are shaped like feet! So cute, and only $3, so I got them. Well, Jake got them for me. Socks! They are well-fitting and soft and warm and I think they’ll make good leg-keep-warm-ers in the hospital. Plus, cheap, so I won’t have to worry if they get gross or anything. heh
Costco, and Stop & Shop, followed, and ugh, people everywhere. But then we were home and done for the day and it was lovely.
In the evening we watched Land of the Lost, which we had DVRd because it was a Will Ferrell movie we hadn’t seen. Then we realised that at the end of the previous year, we were laying in our bedroom in Australia watching Stepbrothers and Old School, so maybe this is some sort of silly tradition forming?
We missed the ball dropping on tv, because we saw we had just over 5 minutes so we went to brush our teeth so we could go to bed as soon as it was the new year (I was exhausted and had been for hours, plus I was having mirror-image brainmate shunt pain. Jake had nothing, just the location of my headache made us give it that name) and when I was wandering the kitchen gargling my listerine I saw that it was 12:01. And then my phone rang (it was Lisa wishing us a happy new year) so I had to grab the phone and run to the bathroom to spit out the listerine so I could speak… so I think as it became the new year, Jake was telling me a rambly story about looking out the bus windows on the way to school while I brushed my tongue (if I have some words to pay attention to, I don’t have any gag issues. Works the same at shoe-putting-on time, if we chat, I don’t notice so much that I can barely reach my feet and I’m partially squishing my belly in order to acquire footwear). I think that’s a pretty cute way to start the year.
Oh, and I did that end of year survey, if you are interested at all.
Today, we slept in. Woke up a bit before 9:30, but we didn’t get up until 10. We just laid in bed chatting, waking up slowly. It was lovely. We do this a lot lately, pretty much every Sunday, I think it is just us taking advantage of not having someone else wanting us getting up, without us even realising we are savouring the last moments.
This afternoon I read through the car seat manual, stopping a lot to do each bit like adjust the straps and learn where all the bits are and things. I started reading right as Jake started watching a football game, and at halftime we went out to the car to install the base. Got that worked out eventually, I’m pretty impressed that we managed to work it out. I was very glad Jake was there, he’s my strength. He could push the base into the car more so the seatbelt could hold it tight, and after putting the carseat on the base to make sure it all worked well, I needed him to remove the seat from the base. I have nowhere near strong enough hands to pull the lever thing to make that happen. My hands are rather sore from trying. Now my car looks like it belongs to a family with a baby. 😀
Title: From the xmas eve episode of Craig, I can’t remember what he was talking about but I do know he started saying silly things that made not much sense.
