Its odd. I’m sitting here at work (8 hours later from my last entries). I have a tv, and I’ve counted, so far, 12 tv channels with the parade on. Now, thats not whats odd. But the fact that one of those channels is the spanish channel, and that every station has their cameras in different places strikes me as odd. On the plus side, if there’s a float/band that I like, I can just keep watching them as they make their way down the parade!
Too bad I don’t like parades.
I went to high school in Monroe, a town about 30 minutes East of Everett, Washington. Maybe I can equate that better. Its about 45 minutes Northeast of Seattle. Anyway, every year they have a parade just before the Evergreen State Fair begins (second biggest fair in Washington!). Unfortunately, this parade is 2 weeks before the beginning of school.
Now, every parade has to have a marching band, so my band director in high school used to send out a letter and we’d get together a week before the parade, practice a pretty good routine, and then march in the parade. I was in that parade 5 years in a row! 4 times with the marching band and once with a float. Well, it wasn’t really a float so much as it was a 1929 Pierce Arrow!
Matter of fact, it looked almost exactly like this…

We were dressed as gangsters and we’d walk along side the car, or ride on the running boards if we got behind. All the while handing out candy. It was so much fun.
And I still don’t like parades… unless I’m in it. Hee hee… 😉
I must say, I’m a bit of a glory hound. I love the lime light, however I don’t like being egotistical. Thats something I strive to keep from being. Drives me nuts cause I know I am, and I work very hard not to be, and sometimes it just comes out… Its like my Dr. Jekyll/Mr. Hyde. So anyway… I should get going (being that I’m at work and all). Gotta go do… um… nothing.
