Tales from New York, part III
Another tale from New York City.
So the other night I was leaving the Met. The stage door opens up to an underground driveway of sorts. Mostly for cabs and limos to drop off important guests, or singers, with a turnaround at the end so they can exit back out the way they came. I came out the stage door and saw two large black SUVs with very black tinted windows. In between the SUVs was a van, like those Chevy/GMC cargo vans, with a raised top, and also with black tinted windows. My first thought was, "…must be someone important." Beyond that, I didn’t think much of it.
I made my way down the drive to a crosswalk which would have crossed me just in front of the van. I was putting in my earbuds, and about to stop off the curb to cross the 15-20ft or so to get to the passage way that heads out to the street, and I feel a firm hand on my shoulder. I turn and a man in a dark suit, with a communication earpiece and military style haircut was saying, "Stay on this side please." I nodded and thought, "Who the hell is this?!"
Looking down the passage way I see a gaggle of people coming out of the broadway theater there next to the Met (they share the same passages) and as they neared it split and who should step out of the group but President Bill Clinton. I was shocked! Here is President Clinton standing less than 20 feet from me. He shakes some hands, takes a few pictures, and as he turns to enter the van, I wave feably at him, still stunned at who it is, and he smiles and waves back. Then gets in the van and they go. The dark suited man next to me says I can go and he turned to enter a chase car.
I will admit, I’m a fan of President Clinton. I liked his policies, I liked what he did for the government, and I really enjoyed his autobiography. So it was fun to see him in person. Should probably mention, I’m not much of a celebrity person. As I walked through the passage way, two people in front of me (that had made a HUGE DEAL about getting their picture with him) were talking loudly and saying how excited they were to blog about this experience (I’m not making this up) about how they got to meet and chat with Bill Clinton. Now, maybe they were in the theater with him, I don’t know… But I was pretty sure they saw him and ran up for pictures. I could be wrong. lol
Anyway, so yeah. That was my tuesday night. I said in my last entry that I have a lot of things I’ve wanted to talk about, and I still want to, but I’m not sure an open forum like this is a good place to do it. Maybe I’ll write it out and post it FO. We’ll see, I haven’t really been writing much lately.
I hope this entry finds you all well. Much love!

Cool! I learned this week that one of the bad guys on The Talking Dead studied Clinton to get his accent down – the actor is from England – the Governor if you watch the show. Anyhow, write your stories when you get time. We’re all hungry to hear more insider drama from the opera underworld of the Met.

Hope things are going well up there! Sorry about my new, apparently illegible format. I got sick of the old one and then I got sick of trying to make a new one legible, so I gave up. Looks like I’ll have to take a picture specifically for this purpose if I want a custom background, since the site insists on tiling everything.

*smiles* I think Bill Clinton is one of those presidents who gets better and worse with his progression into the future post-presidency. Glad you got to see him.

I love Clinton! That’s awesome. I would have geeked out hardcore. Now, if it had been Bush Jr. would you have waved? I like to think I’d have given him the finger, but who knows 🙂
