thoughts on a dress**

[]

this is meant for the beauty & fashion circle but for some reason, it won’t save to that particular circle. i joined. i used the circle pull down menu. it’s not saving. bah.

i cannot figure out what to wear with this dress.

it is a lovely empire waist knit dress in a mauve-y looking brown. i have a leopard print purse to match. in the back of my mind, i’m nagged by my own insecurities. it’s so pretty; give it to someone who can do it justice, that voice says. still, i love it and i push on, trying to solve my dilemma. skinny people should’nt have all the fun! you’re lovely. you can wear it.

here it is done casually, with a bright sweater and jeans. (i wonder if it would be better with the dress, the jeans, and the cardigan–shown next?)

next, i tried it with brown (yes, they are brown) pants, a scarf, and a cardigan. i should’ve put some shoes on.

i thought to myself, is it too short to be a dress? perhaps not, self. i tried it out to see with brown tights (they are somewhat textured) and a couple different pairs of shoes.

flats

and just for fun, i tried on my new top from tommy hilfiger. it would obviously look better with a real bra (i just got a really nice one) but today was a lazy day and i have a sports bra on. i think that perhaps the skirt is too tight still (damn this baby weight.) it has some nice detail on the bottom and i thought that top would really be best with a pencil skirt (the skirt shown is a bit more tulip than pencil but kind of a mix.) obviously, heels are needed.

whatever is a girl to do? keep trying? give up? i tried to find a hooded shirt for under the dress but i didn’t have quite the right thing. isn’t that always the way? something is always missing for me. it’s usually the shoes but here it’s the shoes, the top, the body, the dress… *sighs*

so, my husband and i got to thinking. we looked at the pictures and wondered how the jeans would look with the sweater dress and the cardigan. bingo! we have a winner.

def. LOVE it with the jeans and cardigan!!!

November 20, 2006

i love the shoes and jeans and dress with the last picture. glad you chose that one. it also looks great as just a dress with the cardigan over it. it’s not too short. 😀

November 20, 2006

that’s super cute! You look great and stylish so don’t let yourself get intimidated!

re: lol, i’m always honest, and i’m always nice about stuff like this. i’d expect people to be honest too, which is why i let john dress me a lot of the time, lol my sister used to be the one to help me with all of this stuff. :/

I’m not sure how you feel about tights, but I guess they’re really ‘in’ right now so maybe a capri length pair of tights would look good with the dress…

i like it as just a dress. it looks nice either way u wear it!

Love it. Personally, I would add the scarf aswell, beautiful colours. That dress is very lovely, makes me wish it were winter here! You have inspired me to do a fashion focused entry!

November 20, 2006

That is WAY cute…I also like the scarf pic. And every pair of shoes you wore LOL And YOU do the dress plenty of justice, so THERE. That’s the second note in a row I’ve ‘so there’d you on! kristen

good choice 🙂

November 20, 2006

Definitely like the last two! But I think it looks cute in the first pic where you’re wearing it AS a dress too! 😀

The white looks awesome!

November 20, 2006

the white works too. go fashionista! ;P

November 20, 2006

lol someone who thinks even more than i do about what to throw on before the day starts. (then again some days i don’t think at all). they all look really cute. Your husband must be pretty cool to sit there and look at the pics and put in his two cents (it would be hard for me to keep my husband’s attention that long when talking about clothes).

November 20, 2006

ooh! the white’s hot! that second picture is particularly fantastic. whoever took it should come take pictures of me. if it was your self-timer, well, I’m screwed. I think the white looks best. Awesome! kristen

RYN: well, damnit, I’m so boring! Noone wants to hear about how I need new boots, or how I’m tired of the smelly guy at work (or our Sybil-like psychotic girl)….well perhaps those stories would entertain you. Hmm. Anyway I’m all excited about life for right now so prepare yourself for all kinds of wacky Kristen lore. kristen (now full of lore, haha)

I think I like the jeans, but I also like the white pants. hmmmm I’m going with the jeans, then the white. Mix and matching is always fun.

November 20, 2006

well i love the last pic but alos think it looks cute with the flat shoes and fights. you are so pretty!!

November 20, 2006

I love all the out fits!!! you can so def pull it off.

November 21, 2006

ryn – i honestly dont give her that much big people food to eat. the only stuff she gets is the stuff i wrote in that entry – and the sweet potatoes are baby food. when i do give her people food, i cut it up VERY small… not because I dont think she can handle big pieces but because im paranoid and also because she is still a little baby im not going to give her big chucnks of food, ya know?

November 21, 2006

i LOVE the last 2 pictures… with the while. very, very, very pretty… i want that outfit lol

November 21, 2006

i think it would look great with the white sweater and tights. I love that hat too, so cute. This was a fun entry, like a little fashion show! 🙂

I don’t know if I like it with the white so much. It looks *amazing* on you with the jeans, cardigan, and cap. That hat just ties it together!

November 21, 2006

okay, I think the dress looks best on it’s own. With tights. But… I also think it looks great with the white.

Nice entry.

November 21, 2006

sawyer seems to also be helping pick out his favorite 🙂 I like the sugestions. As for shoes if you are just wearing the dress and the scarf, it would look so cute with boots. I know it may look retro but you could pull it off.

Ryn: Hans, was the sales guy that sold me my new Toyota Rav4. He has a German Name, but is a small oriental guy. I told him when I bought the Rav, that I would name it Hans, becasue he was funny. RyotherN: I don’t *mind* watching Standup on TV, but I love live comedy.

November 21, 2006
