12 am Mtg/ On Leave

Am on leave today. Yeah!!!

Was mentally exhausted yesterday. Was in the morning shift, had lots to do coz of a major project coming up in mid Feb. Halfway thru my day, the proj chairman called up to say he’s calling for a sub-comm meeting that nite. Told him I cldnt attend as I’m working the morning shift and cldnt stay. But as I’ve lots of things to clear, I ended up working past 6pm… then 7pm… then 8pm… then 9pm. Sigh. In the end, all the sub-comm members came into the office (meeting was at 10pm after another proj meeting taken care by my colleague) and I was dragged out to dinner at 9.30pm. So, in the end, I did attend the meeting and man, it ended at 12am again!!

It seemed that all the meetings for these proj tend to end at 12 am (so far).

J said he has to go to China 2 weeks later. Biz trip. Will be staying there for one and a half months. Ouch.  Need to get more details from him. Didnt have the chance to talk to him last nite coz of the meeting which ended at 12am…..

But cldnt understand why his company wants him to go away during chinese new year. I thought companies in China will be celebrating CNY too?

Anyway, I’ll be attending my Induction programme 2 weeks later too. And for goodness’ sake, it’s an 8 day course! And on top of that, we have to stay in too.  Damn it coz it’s still the CNY period and it stretches all the way from 7 to 16 Feb, excluding Sat and Sun. Will miss Valentine’s Day together with J but then, now that he has to go away, there’s absolutely no chance for us to get together on that day.

Tell me, but which organisation wld send its staff on an induction course after the staff has joined for 7 months?? Either it feels its induction is very impt, not-to-be-missed or the rate of new staff entering the organisation is so slow that it takes ages to have a suitable induction course.

Glanced thru the programme briefing…. it’s basically packed thru the day, from morning 7+, 8 am till 10pm.

Got to cover an event on 11 Feb, which means I have to go back to work on that Sat. Sigh. And my 2nd i/c in office has informed that I might be needed to attend 2 CNY dinner during the induction period, which means I might need to go back to work if need be. But anyway if that is the case, she will be writing in to ask for my excuse.

Since I’m on leave today, I did a little packing, cleared my cupboard and changed my bedsheet. Has plans to go out shop later; havent buy any CNY clothings.

Had my reunion dinner on Sunday. J came too. We had bbq steamboat together with my family. Will go to his house for his reunion dinner this Sat most prob.
