2 Things Which Made Me Boiled

Had my wisdom tooth operation yesterday. Extracted the one at my bottom right. Didnt do anything to the remaining 3 teeth as they didnt cause any problem (touchwood!). I had to remove this tooth so that the dentist can save the tooth in front of the wisdom tooth. Basically, the tooth in front has chipped and he had previously filled the hole but the filling dropped off. So now I may hv to do a crown to prevent further damage to the tooth.

Had heard some scary stories abt wisdom tooth operation and the after-effects, eg. fever, swelling… but so far, I’m ok except for that little swelling on my cheek  I didnt feel much pain, think the painkiller really worked well..  Think my appetite remains as good too…

Some things cropped up at work last week b4 I went on my MC this week. I had scheduled my dental appt almost a mth ahead and had notified my 2 bosses. There was a WITs presentation on last Thur for my division and our team went without much preparation. We did not expect to get into the next round, nothing wanted to anyway… But we ended up getting into the next round and had to do a presentation to the higher level this coming Fri. On top of that, our big boss (bigger than my 2 bosses) wanted us to attend a training on Tue (which is today). I was the team leader. God knows why I’m the leader, it was just arrowed to me sometime ago and pardon me, I had absolutely no idea of what was our topic then and how to do the slides (I learnt that there was a certain format to follow).

Anyway, now that we got into the next level, my 2nd i/c said I had to postpone my dental appt. She said no choice, our directors wld be there etc etc… we hv to touch up on our slides and presentation and everything as we only prepared the minimal for the 1st round. I felt it was unfair to me as I had scheduled for the appt long ago. In fact, I had arranged it on the last week of the mth as I do not hv meetings during that week. If I was to postpone it, it wld mean another whole mth of waiting. My dentist had already told me not to drag too long.

I told J and a few other colleagues and they all felt that I shd go ahead with my plan as I was advised not to wait too long for the surgery. The presentation team had 3 presenters. Without me, the other 2 can still present. Especially now that our 2nd i/c wld be joining the team (becoz we r going into the next level), there will still be 3 presenters.

So I spoke to my 2nd i/c again. She initially insisted that I go for both the training and the presentation even if I went ahead with my surgery on Mon. Told her that dont think it’s possible for me to be well enuf to attend the Tue training. Then she said ok, Tue training no need but Fri presentation I hv to be there.  Felt so angry that I really boiled….

Anyway, we ended the conversation with no fixed solution as I told her I cldnt promise her I’ll definitely be well on Fri becoz sometimes it’s hard to predict.

I hv a feeling that I am not going back on Fri even if I recover on time. Hahaha. Then I can hv a super long rest, from Mon to next Tue becoz next Mon is Labour Day. Hohoho (A devil’s laugh.. )

Ok, let’s talk abt some happier things.

J and I hv gotten our flat. We kai1 men2 already. The living/ dining room was big.. I like that. Got a problem wif the main door and 2 other bedroom doors which were warped. Had requested HDB to change them but they said had to wait a few weeks. We already had an idea of what we need or want to do to our house. Those reno packages we saw is between $12k to $18k but we hv yet to sit down and talk to anyone. There’ll definitely plus and minus items so the cost will vary. We’ve asked for a quote on all the items we want and the cost comes up to $21k. Woow. Kinda exceed our budget.

One way to reduce the cost is to look for the individual coontractors ourselves instead of engaging those one-stop reno contractor. But this will be more troublesome and requires a lot of effort on our part.

Another way I’m thinking is to buy cupboard and wardrobes instead of customising and made-to-measure. But it will be a little hard to get the right colour and fit.

We’ve gotten our ROM date  Talking of that reminds me of another thing at work which made me boiled.

I filled in my leave application form, got my 2nd i/c to approve it and passed to my boss for his signature. He returned it to me, saying I’ll need a covering officer to sign as well (we hv to get a covering officer everytime we go on leave or off). So I went back to my 2nd i/c and told her. She said it’s too early to get a covering officer and anyway she has taken note of the dates so it’s alright for me to proceed. I went back to my boss and he said no, I hv to get a covering b4 he signed. If it’s too early now, then I shd hold on to the form and get someone to cover for me when it’s nearer the date.

 I felt it’s ridiculous….. So you mean if I cant get a covering officer, then I cant get married is it?
