Customary Wedding – 27 Jan 07

Had my customary wedding (tea ceremony) last Sat. I wont exactly say it was fun but it was interesting. Haha. Oh, and tiring too. I couldnt imagine how much more tired I would be if I were to have my wedding banquet on the same day too.

We used my brother’s car as the bridal car and so my brother was the driver. I think our timing can be considered to be late coz the auspicious time for us to reach J’s house is at 11am. Anyway, my brother and J reached at 8+ am but they were asked to go for coffee as I was not ready yet. My makeup artiste took longer than expected. When he finally showed up at the door, he was prevented from entering coz my elder sister and cousin locked up the door. We had earlier agreed that there wont be any games and that was what I told my friends who came down to help too. But I think my relatives (esp my cousin?) wanted to have some fun. LOL. So in the end, J seemed to have a hard time. I didnt know what exactly happened as I was inside the room. But I heard his "I Love You" loud and clear. Twice.

We offered prayers and took some photos then left for our new home. Were a little rushed coz of the delay by my makeup artiste so didnt manage to take many photos there as we had to leave for his parents’ house. There werent a lot of his relatives ard anyway. I think we only offered tea to his parents, and 2 aunties plus their husbands. But their neighbours and parents’ friends were ard, so it was actually quite crowded. We had some food there while waiting (just in case some more relatives came). Anyway I found it weird that his relatives dont turn up coz for my side, everybody turned up, and they came quite early too.

When we went back to my house, it was already 1+ pm. Had some more food and then had the tea ceremony. My relatives said I looked nice in the kua.  So happy to hear compliments. Yay! After that, things were more relaxed as there was nothing more to do done. We went out for photography session. Intended to go to MacRitchie Reservoir as it was not too far from my plc but it started to rain when we were almost there. So we took our photographer’s suggestion and went to the airport instead. It was very beautiful but it was a unique and special plc to take photos. LOL.

By the time we got back to my plc, it was 5+ pm. Had some more food (was hungry!), changed and did some packing. My bro-in-law gave us a ride to our house (although very out of the way) and it was already 7+ pm when we returned to J’s hse to bring his belongings over. Spent some time unpacking and counting ang pows after that. Spent even more time removing my makeup and washing my hair! My hair was so hard due to the hair spray and there were so many pins that J spent quite some time finding and removing them.

Am glad that the traditional ceremony was over. Now we have to start preparing for our banquet in March. Another headache.

Oh, my bro-in-law made the photos he took into a video presentation. Not fantastic effects but still, I was touched by his sincerity.

Now, to get used to a life together.

Monday, 1027 hrs.
