monkeys!

on friday i visited delhi. it only took about two and a half hours to get there. they have lots of snow and i am jealous. = the campus is really nice. there is a great view too. it was really empty since it was the last day before break. after getting a tour from the lacrosse coach of the campus i got to meet with doctors from the veterinary technician section. THEY HAVE MONKEYS! they are the only vet. tech. school to have monkeys. the type of monkey is makali or something like that. i asked why they didn’t have chimps and the vet said that full grown chimps can tear a humans arms and legs off. so, yeah. that wouldn’t be good to have around people learning how to deal with animals. most of the monkeys are around 20 years old. they live to be 30. they were so cute! i couldn’t get to close because i have to be tested for TB before i am allowed to get near them. they also have gerbils, rats, guinea pigs, cats, and dogs in their own rooms. the cats and dogs weren’t there since it was the holiday. all the smaller critters have their own little colonies. like some rats were kept in sterilized rooms while others were just normal. in one of the rooms all the gerbils kept seizuring. it just keeps being bred into the colony, so that sucks. i saw some of the classrooms and lab rooms. after that i went and saw the barn where students learn to take blood and do tests on cows, horses, chickens, pigs, and sheep. there was another vet in there slaughtering a pig. i wasn’t allowed in because you have to wear gloves and boots and all that jazz because of the hoof and mouth disease. after visiting both schools, i really like them both. i need to choose one and i have no idea which one i am going to pick. they both have their positive and negative factors.
