caught watching television

Yesterday I was again caught watching television. It seems to be a pattern that Sundays get wasted. The university is closed on such a day, which means that I can’t go to the reading or to the computer room, which means that if I want to study I have to stay at home. And at home, that’s where the distraction is! The day started out fine. Reading feedback on chapter two of my thesis, making a list of features for chapter three and making a list of hypotheses for chapter four. Then I went to have dinner with the television on. But I couldn’t keep my discipline. Long after I finished my meal the television was still on. A new episodes of ‘Bones’, which I liked, but I could have done sooo many other things. In the end I decided that it was time to stop flicking through the channels and to watch a Buffy episode (real me), and then I went to sleep.

Today went much better (so far). At about 9.30 I arrived in the computer room. I studied (and had a look on http://www.wkdammen2007.nl) till 12.30. Then had dinner and then studied from 13.00 till 17.00. Chapters 3 and 4 are done! Now I only have to do the pilot study (which will be done Wednesday) and the actual research (which shouldn’t take more than a week).

From 17.00 till the end of the game I watched Samb- Van den Akker live via the internet. Unfortunately Van den Akker lost. Probably the position couldn’t be saved anymore. Earlier in the game he was surprised by a surprising gambit.
