Olympics
I am terrible distracted by these Olympic Games. These games continue at the weirdest hours and when I start watching in the morning in don’t quit till they’re done. Of course you still miss a lot because of the time difference with Beijing but in the end I just lose too many hours a day on this, sometimes fun, inefficient activity. Vos won gold this morning in the points race track cycling. The tension is high, and the emotions also go into various extreme directions. The day before yesterday, I watched the quarter final water polo women between The Netherlands and Italy. We won, and then it is nice. Or the one hundred metres men with a world record and a winner who run the last 20 metres at leisure and could have gone much faster if he’d wanted to.
However, I also should be working on my MA thesis. Today I watched from 10 till 5 and wasting time. The fun of watching gets spoiled by knowing that you should be doing something else. For instance, next to my studies, I could go outside and just read for fun.
For my MA thesis Anna has finally replied that she would indeed very much like to be my second reader. Once I’ve got her signature and handed my plan to the exam committee I should feel freer to work on this paper. The deadline I’ve set is December 19, which is a realistic deadline that I should be able to make if I don’t get more setbacks than expected (you should always expect some delays, but these I have counted on).
