summer: Piet
The last game of the summer was against Piet. I offered him to confine my right flank, which he refused initially, but after about 15 moves more he finally took up the glove. The position was becoming ever more interesting. At some point I could get out of the confinement by taken a 4×4 exchange, which, of course, I didn’t do. I did when I could get out via a 1×1, giving him an edge draught on 25. Then he made a big mistake, he played 9-14 after which I could place myself into a ‘fence position’, and he couldn’t get out of it with 19-23 anymore. This was the point at which a won the game. He did try for a couple of moves more, but it was no use.
9-14?
This victory gave me a third place in this competition. JPD is the winner, Herman is second.
