I began the last game against Cock with the ever daring 35-30, the most risk full opening possible. He of course answered 20-25. On the fifth move I played the original and crazy 31-26.

He did not find a plan with which to come into a better position and gradually I gained the upper hand. With my right wing still locked up, but he had to use about 5 pieces to hold down 3 pieces of mine, I had to allow him to take a drawing combination. I had hoped that he would keep on trying to win, which would have given me chances as well. But no, after careful consideration he decided to take the combination. I played on a couple of moves more, but it was no use. We agreed to a draw, which gave him the championship.
