Saucy Scale: 9

It’s been awhile.  Which always leaves me struggling what to write about first.  Well, mostly, ’cause if I try to write during the day, I’m racing the against the clock with keeping those babies of mine occupied.  Fortunately, the darlings have gone nighty-night already.

TBU worked his last days for his previous employer last week.  Then I had him to myself W-F.  Poor dear, he really wanted to sit on his butt and veg a few days, but we were running around like crazy headless chickens instead.

Mattson had his first visit with the pediatric eye doc – about his plugged tear duct.  We’re scheduled for his surgery in April.  FINALLY!  I’ve been decrusting those eyes for over a year now.

I was supposed to get my IUD removed, but wouldn’t you know it…my girlie bits decided to spring forth with some unscheduled hostility.  (yeah, my period.)  Rescheduled that little meeting with my OB/GYN for next week.

TBU’s folks came for a visit (aka: babysitting) Thursday – Sunday.

Friday was a wonderful day.  I went downtown Chicago for an appointment with my favorite esthetician.  Marina (and most of the other out of work Georgette Klinger employees) were scooped up by another swanky spa.  It was fantastic to see her, but it was even better to have my pores scrubbed clean!

I spent the afternoon shopping & then met TBU at The Palmer House Hilton for a nice child-free night on the town – in honor of his birthday.  A yummy dinner out & getting tipsy on one beer…BRING ON THE SEX!

On Sunday we threw Mattson’s First Birthday Bash.  A little bit tardy, but fun nonetheless.  I still need to download the pictures – then I’ll share them with you.

This week TBU started his new job.  He’s been home so much earlier every night.  What a treat for us all!

We’re looking forward to a nice (and actually) quiet weekend.

Homes for sale in our town are a little hard to come by.  Well, let me clarify that… if you’d like to buy a 1+million dollar home, you have PLENTY of stock to choose from.  If your budget is in a bit more of a modest category, good luck.

I was cruising around town and noticed a For Sale sign in the front yard of a lovely brick home in the historic district of town.  This was not just any cute little brick home.  This was a home that I have admired for YEARS.  The exterior of the house is really charming & I REALLY wanted to see what the inside of that house looked like!  I was thrilled to learn the pricetag wasn’t NEARLY as obscene as I’d expected.  So, we met our Realtor over there for a tour.  Oh my goodness, but that home was DISASTER inside.  It has great potential, but the next owner either needs to be extremely talented with home remodeling or have a an endless supply of cash to make it happen.  Unfortunately, we are not the right couple to pull off either of those scenarios.  Even though the pricetag was not that bad (for this town, anyway), this house is SERIOUSLY overpriced.

So, we keep looking.

It’s funny, I noticed that our Realtor and the lower-level Realtor seem to be having a bit of a tug-o-war over keeping us as clients (aka: money makers).

Let me explain.

Realtor #1 is one of the top realtors in town.  Her name is the one you see on the For Sale signs in front of those multi-million dollar homes.  The only reason I’m even on a first name basis with her is because of my mommy.  (My mommy taught her children nursery school back in the day.)

When we moved back to Our Town from Michigan, she was the only realtor I actually knew.  So, I called her and acknowledged our low-budget needs.  I asked if she had an underling to pawn us off on for house hunting assistance.  She hooked me up with Realtor #2.

Realtor #2 took me house hunting 2 1/2 years ago.   When we actually found and purchased our home, it was via word of mouth and we didn’t use any realtors.

So, now that we’ve started looking at homes again…I phoned Realtor #1.  I assumed she would want to pawn me off on Realtor #2 again.  Realtor #1 was vacationing at her home in St. Barths when I called.  So, I just went ahead and phoned Realtor #2 in order to get to see the inside of the aforementioned cute historic brick home before it was sold out from under me.

Well, Realtor #1 sent me emails from her vacation in the sun.  She’s unintentionally made it clear that there is some territory-related issues between them (and by territory, I mean ME, not real estate).  I don’t care.  I think its funny that these two EXTREMELY successful realtors even give a rat’s @ss about my (comparatively) paltry house hunting budget.  It’s not my problem.  Just send me listings and find me the perfect house!  Come on ladies, who’s hungrier?

Anyhoo.  That’s about it for tonight.  Time to plug in the old laptop before it dies.

5 Things That Make Me Happy:

  1. The stress of the First Birthday Party is over.
  2. Marina, oh how I’ve missed you *sigh*
  3. Could that actually be Spring out there?
  4. TBU’s new gig.  I love it when he’s happy!
  5. Rainbow sherbet

So glad TBU’s job is going so well. That’s always a relief. I love to look at old historical houses. If only I had the means to fix one up and create a b&b. I would SO love that!!

With the housing market as it is, don’t be surprised that there is a fight over ANY customers!

So many happy things in this entry! We’re contemplating a first birthday party for Spawn, but seeing as he’s just going to be 1 it’s really for the adults. A real estate agent once told me that it’s not always about the commission, but about the # of deals closed and potential referrals out of the deal. I need a facial….
