Saucy Scale: 7
Nice to see that Snapfish has decided to lighten up.
We had a really nice weekend. We took a roadtrip to visit friends back in Grand Rapids, Michigan. It’s nice to see our friends, but there is never enough time to see everyone and do everything.
This morning the boys and I went to the park to play with friends from Gusser’s nursery school. It was a nice way to start the day. We go to the park with different playgroups at least twice a week this summer.
We have officially started the TBU/"TG" …duh duh DUH!…diet. We’re following Drs. Oz and Roizen with the Real Age Diet and YOU: on a Diet plans (since they are basically the same thing).
Tonight we had lentil soup & salmon with a rub of tumeric, wasabi, & fresh ginger. I will say that I find recipes written by diet gurus to be not quite as yummy as those written by say, an actual chef. I’m a foodie. I’m a tough sell. The lentil soup was just kinda…flat. I have plans for tweaking the remainder of the soup. It can be salvaged.
I think we’ll have apricot chicken tomorrow night.
At this point I should be increasing my workout(s), but my foot is so incredibly f*cked up. I’m gimping thru life these days. We took a family walk after dinner tonight, but it was pretty tough to keep up. As soon as we put the children to bed, I was soaking in a nice hot bat tub – which helps loosen the muscles etc. in my foot.
According to my doc, if I follow instructions, I can expect a full recovery in a few months. If I don’t follow instructions, I can expect nothing but re-injuring myself for the rest of my days.
- Ibuprofin 3 x day (for the inflammation and the pain)
- soak foot in warm bath morning & night
- immediately buy good shoe inserts
- immediately go to a professional for a pair of "good walking shoes" and wear them all the time (do not walk around my house without shoes!)
- do foot stretches before getting out of bed
- do stretches on the stairs 2 x day
- try to find a quality brace to wear overnight – to keep foot flexed
I find the shoe wearing to be tedious. I do not really like shoes. I like to be barefoot.
Actually, I DO NOT allow shoes to be worn in our house (your house will be so much cleaner if people aren’t tracking dirt thru your house all day long!). Since the downstairs of our home is nothing but hardwood & tile, I am forced to wear shoes in the house. It drives me crazy. I’m annoyed if I do, but I’m in pain if I don’t.
So, anyhoo…the boys & I took a little trip to Whole Foods for some diet provisions. I gotta say that those vegans are really a surly bunch. Mattson was in the cart & Gus walked right along with me. Now, he’s a pretty good kid – he stuck right with me and we did our hunting. He was way better behaved than most 3 year old boys being dragged thru the grocery store! He does NOT run around or play hide & seek or take over the aisles…but let’s face it, he’s a 3 year old boy being dragged thru the grocery store! Anytime he stepped in the path of a shopper, I reeled him back into line quickly. A few of the folks he did "step in front of" gave me some truly ugly looks. Jeesh, man…go eat some meat! The protein might alleviate your crankiness.
Man, look at the time. TBU has finished the bills and is emptying the dishwasher for me. I think it’s time for bed.
5 Things That Make Me Happy:
- My family. My husband is a dear, dear man. I am a lucky girl.
- My babies. They are so outgoing and happy. So incredibly sweet & funny & smart.
- Sleeping with the windows open.
- Afternoon naps with The Gus. He’s a cuddler at nap-time.
- Drs. Oz & Roizen encourage the consumption of dark chocolate…this just might keep me sane.
Did the doc tell you no covers tucked under the mattress? Mine did because you tend to point your toes when they’re tucked.

I was just reading that book last nite. Between that and the foot pain, we’re like twins. ;o)

I’m guessing that you had a grand time visiting with friends here in GR since there’s really nothing to DO, per se. That, and the weather was odd. Yay for good times with the family!

Guess I shouldn’t have eaten those 4 donuts this morning then.

I have recently installed a NO SHOES IN MY HOUSE DAMNIT policy, and it’s AMAZING- how much less I sweep (and then mop) on the hardwood floors without the shoes around.

Any diet that allows chocolate is wonderful… no matter what. 😉 I hope your foot gets better soon!

Be careful with the Ibuprofen once you get pregnant again! I hate shoes in the house. I like my bare feet on the ceramic tile!

btw–what was your foot diagnosis?
