1718 My Distractions

Saucy Scale: 7

We had plans to take the boys to The Brookfield Zoo yesterday, but it was raining buckets.  So we went to Plan B and drove downtown Chicago to The Shedd Aquarium.  The unfortunate downside is the walking distance from the parking lot to the Aquarium – which TBU had to do solo in the downpour after dropping us off at the door.  The boys had a fabulous time, as always!  They do love a visit to The Fishies!

This morning at church I looked over at TBU taking notes and happened to notice today’s date.  July 20th.  My mommy’s birthday.  Ouch.  How could this day almost slip past me unnoticed?  There were a few minutes there when I was seriously fighting back the tears.

TBU and I both listen to quite a bit of NPR.  Separately we both heard the same interview about a tv series on AMC called Mad Men.  It is a show about an advertising firm in the early 1960s.  It is supposed to be quite realistic about the way things were in the industry "back in the day" – which is quite amazing & simultaneously appalling!  One of the most visually striking things is the amount of smoking – everyone smokes (and drinks) CONSTANTLY.  And the sex.

Great soundtrack, too!

We ran out to Blockbuster to pick up the first 2 DVDs of season one and we LOVE LOVE LOVE this show.  Before you run out to Blockbuster, check your local listings, b/c they seem to be running a season one marathon.

Mama seems to be experiencing more frequent morning sickness these days.  Thankfully, while it occurs more frequently (and all day long), it isn’t very severe.

I do have a taste for Taco Bell’s Cheesy Double Beef Burrito.  $.89 of cheesy beefy satisfaction.  You don’t even want to know how many calories are in that little piece of heaven.

Mattson has a new talent.  It’s very cute & funny, but not exactly what you might call an "attractive" facial expression.  If I ask him for a kiss, he will scrunch up his lips – his upper lip rolling upward towards his nose.  It is a bit of a "fishy face".  And he makes a mwah*mwah*mwah kissy sound.

I plan on capturing this on video and trying to figure out how to get it up on You Tube.  Of course, we all know I’m not the most techno-savvy person for this particular job.

I still haven’t gotten around to writing a Disney entry…that trip was back in May!

Oh yeah [Drgnphre], count backwards and you’ll notice that our anniversary is in early June.  That’s right…we make anniversary babies!

5 Things That Make Me Happy:

  1. That yummy Don Draper (see: Mad Men)
  2. My hubby is so wonderful & let’s me be a pathetic preggo
  3. Mattson REALLY laughs at farts, not that I am an active participant in soliciting this laughter or anything
  4. My Cousin Chad is back from his most recent tour in Iraq.  Hopefully for good, this time.
  5. Gus has had an improved attitude lately…I don’t know what brought about this change, but I dig it.

your entries always lift my spirits. -Lurker Jena

TBU and you have always been my favorite married couple 🙂 So cute

Uh oh, don’t tell me you have Taco Bell cravings! ALL of my friends who had boys had Taco Bell cravings and NONE of us who had girls wanted anything to do with it. Here’s to hoping it’s different in IL. *thinking pink, thinking pink* Oh, and I am glad Cousin Chad is back safe and sound. My BIL deploys within a month for Iraq.
