1737 Another 24 hours in Paradise
Saucy Scale: 6 (happy, but in a lot of pain)
I have had this headache for over 24 hours now. My sinuses.
The old cliche of "feeling like your head is in a vice" is an amazingly accurate description…yeah, it hurts like heck. I’m miserable.
Of course, it doesn’t help when I wake up in the middle of the night and then can’t get back to sleep. It started out as a vice-grip headache which brought on nausea and progressed into a crazy night with Mattson waking up & screaming at 4:00 am. I figured I was up anyway, so he and I snuggled into the sofa together & somehow we both managed to catch some sort of a catnap.
By 6:00 am I was literally crying from the vice-grip induced nausea. TBU took the boys downstairs so that I could try to get a little rest.
Damn pregnancy and lack of any worthwhile medications! I’m stuck with plain old REGULAR STRENGTH TYLENOL (aka: worthless little pills). I finally broke down this morning an purchased a box of plain variety Sudafed, too.
After last night, I’ve gone so far as to break my usual ban of casual medicine use. I just sent TBU out to get me a box of plain old unisom. I can take me half a pill and hopefully between my sinus headache medication and sleep meds…maybe I can get a half-way decent sleep tonight. (wish me luck.)
Oh, by the way…I should’ve known better, but taking 2 of those tylenol on an empty nauseous stomach & then not eating anything…is A REALLY BAD IDEA. I’ll let you use your own imagination.
In happier news, we did go put down our deposit to hold our homesite & house model. We need to go back later this week to make a real down payment and sign the paperwork.
I’m really excited about it. This house will give us loads of space we don’t have now. It is a gorgeous houseplan & it is so exciting to have complete creative control over a brand new house! We opted for a 4 bedroom home & the optional Bonus Room. Lord knows we’re gonna need avery inch of space! 🙂
The daunting part is that we will have to prep our current home & get it on the market ASAP. We were hoping to wait until the spring to put it on the market, but that timeline has been pushed up on us a bit. So to speak.
I don’t really look forward to the packing frenzy which will be taking place around here over the next 2 weeks. We’ve got a TON of crap to get packed up and sent to a storage unit. We’ve got to stage the heck out of this house to have it "show" well to potential buyers.
Well, my hubby is back with a movie & some ice cream. I’m watching the clock until I can take another Tylenol/Sudafed cocktail. Let’s not forget that 1/2 Unisom chaser at bedtime!
5 Things That Make Me Happy:
- Moving forward on our beautiful new home
- A bedroom for everybody
- The boys & I actually got decent naps today!
- The rains from Hurricane Gustav were gone today & have left behind some lovely cooler temps…sleeping with the windows open!
- movie & ice cream night with my hubby…gotta run!
Aw, I’m sorry you’re feeling so rotten and I hope you get a good night of sleep!

I hope those meds helped. Sinus headaches are awful. So exciting about the house! I was just telling my mom today that I wished we had one more room. *sigh*

Being sick when you can’t take any of the good drugs…not fun. Hope the Unisom chaser did the trick and you had a semi-restful night. Always seems like the kids pick up on the worst of it too, I couldn’t sleep least night and Eva was up no less than 5 times and Sam one. Not to mention a Man that snores.

That was one of the big things I hated about pregnancy: no potent drugs. Not sure if you’re into the whole European view or not, but a couple ounces (I’m talking two or three) of red wine always helped with headaches with me since it dilates the capillaries. I feel for you.

Not being able to take the cool meds during pregnancy and breastfeeding was the worst part. Let’s hope your pain dissipates soon.

New homes are so exciting. Congratulations. I don’t envy you moving but when all of that is done, that new bigger house will be so worth it.
