1766 Days Full of Good Stuff
Saucy Scale: 9
I just did a doubletake at that twin ticker. At the time I cut & pasted it there (as opposed to when you actually read this entry), it reads 100 days left. CRAZY! Actually, with my planned c-section (which is as of yet still unscheduled), it is much less than 100 days.
I did have that woman from church over…the one who very lovingly offered to clean my house for me. She and her daughter were here for about 2 hours. She wanted a list of some items which I really needed to have done, so I tried to come up with a few. I figured if it would keep them out of my potties, then I might keep my pride. I asked them to work on the nastiness that has overtaken the Masterbath shower. I’ll tell you what, she scrubbed the devil out of it! She had to open the window so as not to pass out from the chemical fumes. He daughter changed the crib sheet on Mattson’s bed (I have a heck of a time doing it even when I’m not knocked up) and she was able to rid the ceiling fans of the dustbunnies. I threw in a load of laundry & then sat in the kitchen booking appointments and scheduling the family for stuff. My house smelled chemical clean for a few days. We typically use more eco-friendly products around here and our "clean smell" is usually a bit more friendly on the nose, but my shower funk took precedence and required some SERIOUS destructive cleaning power.
Saturday was a different day for me. I spent the morning getting fresh highlights and a haircut. My stylist is also pregnant, so we talked non-stop about babies and whatnot. Afterwards I met my family for lunch at Potbelly’s. The cherry on the cake for me was a dental cleaning. Whoo Hoo!
December is sort of scooting past me. Not really a blur. Just moving at a rapid pace. You know how the gift preparations, holiday decorations, feasting, cookies, and parties sort of take over your schedule for the month…that kind of thing.
Last night TBU and I attended our first (and only) Christmas Party. It was a social gathering of our regular church group. I was tired as heck when we left…and my tummy hurt from all the sugary consumables I’d consumed, but it was a really nice evening.
If you get Martha Stewart’s Everyday Food magazine, go look at the cranberry trifle on the cover of the current December issue. I brought that to the party. It wasn’t my first choice, but unfortunately, I’d somehow packed my favorite holiday cake recipe (also from an issue of Everyday Food, coincidently), and sent it to the storage unit when we started showing the house to realtors. So I had to settle for something untested/unknown. The trifle was okay, but I didn’t think it was as good as the cranberry cake I’d wanted to make. Oh well.
Whenever we get together socially, we try have some interesting conversations…and last night was no exception. (One year we all had to tell an embarrassing story about ourselves.) Last night we were asked to tell the group who is/was the most influential person in our life and why, BUT it couldn’t be a family member. I’ll tell you, after I realized I couldn’t use my first (and most obvious) choice – my mommy…it was REALLY hard to come up with a suitable replacement. You learn a lot about people thru these questions.
I’ve got a pretty easy week ahead of me, which is nice.
There is an Auction meeting this afternoon. The purpose of today’s meeting should be fun – we will be going through the list of donated items to determine what will be in the silent auction, the bigger ticket items will be used in the live auction, a raffle, etc. I’m still not sure if Boss Lady is planning to attend or not. Her presence will definitely determine how enjoyable this meeting is for me. Luckily, it will be a short/quick meeting no matter who attends.
According to my dentist, I have a little cavity that needs to be dealt with. Oh joy. I think I might let him get it over with tonight – if he still has a 7pm opening.
Tomorrow the boys and I will be attending a Holiday Lunch. That group of cancer survivors (my mommy’s friends) invites us to join them for lunch every 6 weeks or so. I imagine that this will be our final lunch attendance for a long looong time. 🙂 We bought our holiday ornament for the ornament exchange.
I have my next ultrasound this week. I’m really excited about it. Actually, as of this month’s appointments, I’m hitting that fun milestone:
- level 2 ultrasounds every 4 weeks
- OB appointments every 2 weeks
Lots of appointments all the time. Which means that things are gonna start moving pretty quickly around here!
At my last level 2 ultrasound, Baby A was on the left and Baby B was on the right. I’m guessing from all the activity in there that they might’ve switched spots a few times. I’m curious to find out for sure.
Oh my…the babies are kicking up a storm this morning. I guess somebody isn’t a fan of being hunched over the kitchen table & laptop!
Well, my laptop is about out of juice, so I guess that means I’ve been I should give my children a bit of personal attention for a few minutes.
<span style=”font-family: Garamond”>5 That Make Me Happy:
- watching Mattson rearrange the magnets on the fridge
- Gusser’s crazy love of that stupid baseball hat he insists on wearing all the time
- the women in my life who express a genuine desire for helping me and my family in the coming busy days
- highlights & haircuts
- taking a tender & serious moment to cut up and laugh hysterically with TBU in church
.
Wow, you certainly are a busy bee! I’m glad to hear you let the lady from church do some of the heavy cleaning for you. I couldn’t clean with only one baby, I can’t imagine twins!

I do NOT know how you pack all you do into a day, you are my inspiration.

Congrats on the latest baby news! My BFF is 29 weeks with B/B twins. She is beyond excited. Fun Fact: She did Danskin Chicagoland in July and didn’t realize she was prego with Frick & Frack. I’m thinking her overall time will be better in ’09 without baby drag. 🙂

Any idea what she used on your shower? Mine is horrible…
