Saucy Scale: 10

The babies and I had a check-up this morning.  Everything looks swell.  Overall, I’ve gained 16 pounds.

I am currently 29 weeks +1 day pregnant.

The Nurse Practitioner took my measurement (as is usually done).  Instead of measuring 34 weeks (at last appointment), I measure 30 weeks.  Her response was, "wow, somebody changed position recently!".

A long time ago I noticed that he is much more active than she is – in general.  (Since this has always been the case, and my ultrasounds have always shown both babies to be healthy, I don’t worry about it at all.)  He’s always bumping around in there.  I watch my belly move constantly, but only on his side of the womb.  (Even right now, as I sit here, he’s banging around.)

She’s really mellow.  I feel her move, but it isn’t so abusive or obvious.  All that changed a few days ago.  There was an afternoon/evening when she went nuts kicking and squirming around in there!  Apparently, she needed some new real estate for her limbs!

Like the NP said…somebody changed position recently!  It just makes me look forward to my next ultrasound appointment (next week) even more.

I was able to secure some mega-bargains for the twins this week.  On Craigslist I found a local woman selling a Bumbo & a bouncy seat for $18/each.  Turns out that both of these items were brand-new and still in the box!  What a steal!  I got them both for half-price or better.  (We already have 1 Bumbo & I wanted a second one, but I didn’t want to pay $35+ for it.)

I must’ve been on a bargain-finders high…I sent out a request to the Mothers of Multiples (MOMS) to see if I could get a lead on a few other items.  The same mom who sold me her Double Frame Stroller had the Graco Swing that I wanted.  Again, still in the box & about half-price!  Niiiice.

PREPARE FOR RANDOMNESS FROM MY HEAD:

My little boys are still a tremendous delight.  Ok, they are exhausting and frustrating, but they are sweet, funny, smart, and delightful as well.  I am truly a lucky mom.

I worry about how the logistics of 4 small children will work out.  I know it will work out somehow, but I have no idea how that will take place, exactly.  I imagine that it will be quite awhile before the children & I go on an outing without back-up.  Heck, we’re maxing out the capacity of the minivan!  Once we fill all the 2nd and 3rd rows with infant or toddler carseats, there will be no room for additional passengers!  It’s 2 adults up front, 4 under the age of 4 in the rear, and a stroller.  PERIOD.  Holy crap.

TBU is home on vacation with us the rest of this week.  We’re gonna hang out and do nice quiet things together as a family.

I acquired a slew of new books for Christmas.  If I don’t get ’em read before these babies arrive in February/March, then it just ain’t gonna happen!

We’re getting ready to transition Mattson from Crib to Toddler Bed.  This is gonna be a challenging time for Both Mattson & TBU, I fear.  (I doubt I will be of much assistance…I certainly won’t be sleeping on the floor trying to keep him in there!)

I need to figure out how I’m gonna make nap-time work around here.  I love our naps.  The 3 of us currently nap every afternoon from 2pm until 5pm.  We wouldn’t sleep like that if we didn’t really need a good nap everyday.

Mattson will no longer be "contained" in his crib.  I will need to convince Gus to take an actual nap in his own bed instead of mine.  Maybe I can enlist him, asthe Big Brother, to be an encouragement to Mattson.  Yeah, I don’t really believe that will work, but I like to try to convince myself that it just might work.  I see our naps going completely to H-E-L-L right before the babies are born.  Greeeeeeat.  Ours is going to become a house full of very cranky children & an exhausted mommy here in the near future.

2009 will be QUITE a year for the House of U!

/END RANDOMNESS FROM MY HEAD.

It’s 11:30 and TBU and I are actually debating whether or not to bother staying up.

5 Things That Make Me Happy:

  1. We had a trashy, yet yummy dinner at Portillo’s tonight
  2. When we got home, the boys requested another Dance Party.  I love watching those boys dance, wriggle, wiggle, squirm, forward roll, air guitar, air drum, whirling dervish, and jump around to whatever music daddy picks out for them.
  3. I like to pretend that we’ll be able to sleep in tomorrow morning.  (Gus will be arriving in our room at some point before the crack of dawn, completely ready to start the day.)  Ok, again…I like to pretend.  This doesn’t actually make me happy, but I love his quirky little predictable self.
  4. Kathy Griffin.  Even if I’ve seen every one of her specials 100 times, that biotch is funny.
  5. Some day…not remotely in the near future, but some day…TBU and I will go out together for a rock and roll New Years Eve celebration…without the children.  Some day.

11:43 pm.  I don’t think we’d even bother staying up the extra few minutes tonight, but we’re watching a Kathy Griffin comedy special re-run.

I watched Kathy Griffin and Anderson Cooper, which is some funny stuff, they are a random pairing!

I love Kathy too. She is so funny. I missed her on CNN last night – Alexis demanded to watch The Jonas Brothers on ABC. 🙂

I miss Portillos!

2009 sure will be interesting for you, but I know you will manage. God never gives you more than you can handle right? Either you can handle it or God has some pretty big expectations for you, lol.

happy new year honey! I’m only bumping it from one to two kidlets and I STILL worry about naptimes and how I will manage.

WOW- the boys nap for THREE HOURS! We are lucky if Emma naps at all, though yesterday she napped for two hours. We also just ordered her big-girl bed- when she began preferring the floor to the crib, we figured it was time. We let her fall asleep there, then move her to the crib.

RYN: That he is. And you never know if it’s going to be a good day or a bad day with him. It always keeps you on your toes (and your nerves on edge).
