Saucy Scale: 10

The Minis are officially 7 weeks old now.  They’ve suddenly changed quite a bit.  Much less "newborny" and becoming more independent little people (albeit baby-type people).  Just this week they are much more engaging.  They make more eye contact, smile, & coo.  It’s a wonderful transition!

This week was my first week alone without another adult by my side all day long.  My Mother/Father-in-law have been making the trip back and forth for a VERY long time now.  (Remember, my MIL has been helping me out since 6 weeks before the birth!)  After the Minis were born, there were days when I couldn’t have survived without her assistance.  There were also some days when I thought they’d never go home (I know, I’m an ungrateful bitch).  It just got very exhausting having so many bodies crammed into our home.

Eventually TBU & I were going to have to figure out how to manage our lives on a day-to-day basis.  That would mean "No Assistance".  Last week I had a few days on my own (sort of a practice run of sorts).  This week was the real deal.

And, it went really well.  And, nobody died.  And, I realized that while it will be difficult to manage my 4 small children…it won’t be impossible.  Just difficult.  Mostly because of my darling 2 year old Mattson, actually. He’s just a little hell on wheels.  He’s lovely & delightful.  He’s also a ball of energy and completely unpredictable.  If he were to take off running while I was out with all four kids, I’d be screwed.  So, I keep a pretty tight rein on that boy.

Actually, my MIL will be coming back to town for a few days next week.  She’s itching for a baby fix!  One of the nicer perks of having her visit is having her "back up" when one either the kids or myself have a medical appointment.  Next week Mattson & the Minis have pediatric appointments.  I wasn’t looking forward to wrangling all my kids alone!  So, that’ll be nice to have her help.

The Big Boys are going a little stir crazy being cooped up as we wait for warm weather.  I found that once a week the YMCA has a "Dinosaur" class for Gus and a "Music & Movement" type class for Mattson.  Both classes are at the same time (give or take a few minutes).  So, I’ll be able to drop off both boys – for some entertainment & to burn off some energy, while I sit in the lounge with the Minis for a little break.  This starts next week…wish me luck!

Speaking of Mattson, in the last 2 months his vocabulary has literally EXPLODED.  I think he’d been holding out on us for quite some time!  He went from a handful of words (say 20-30 max) to just this amazing vocab…complete with 2 word sentences.  He’ll pop out 2-4 new words every single day now!  It’s crazy!

Because his favorite fruit is a clementine (aka: clem), he’s been using his baby sister’s name for awhile now.  Just today he whipped out Rex’s name for the first time.  What a proud moment!

Gus will finish nursery school for summer vacation here in a month (on his 4th birthday).  Which made me question how I will keep Gus & Mattson busy (and stimulated) this summer (while protecting my own sanity at the same time).  So, I signed Gus up for some YMCA day camps.  He’s especially looking forward to "Super Hero Camp".  He & Mattson will attend a few days of Mom’s Day Out, also.

Our summer is already looking busy, but not too overly booked.  I’m looking forward to using these moments to spend some time alone with the Minis!

We’ve been approached by a family from our church about possibly buying their house (he’s got a job transfer).  The only way this could happen is if we sell our house first.  There is NO WAY that we could put our place on the market.  So now we’re sort of hunting for a young married couple looking to move to our town (which is a very geographically desirable location).  A couple that will be very forgiving of all the baby gear and kid toys.  (Trust me, there’s not much more that we can put in storage & I can’t keep this place clean enough for official real estate showings.)

So, we’re praying like crazy.  If God wants us in that house, He will make it happen.

Laptop is about out of battery juice.  I’ll be cranky if I lose this entry…so I’ll end it sooner rather than later.

You know I’ve got more than 5 Things That Make Me Happy these days.

Mattson sounds like my Matthew. Must be the name similarity. =0)

I hope if that house is meant to be that it will happen. You could use a few breaks in your life right now.
