TBU mother in law update

It looks like we might be near the end with TG’s mom. She has started to refuse medical treatment, and has expressed on at least three separate occasions, to three different individuals, that she has is ready to pass on. She told a nurse on Sunday that they "should just let her die", to the hospital chaplain that she is "ready to go to God’s house" and yesterday to my Father in law that she would like to pass on "within five days". In these cases where the patient begins to refuse treatment, there is a team of doctors that meets with the family and the patient to discuss options. This meeting is going to take place tomorrow. My parents are coming in from Iowa today to watch Gus and TG will be driving up to Madison. My FiL is already there and my BiL will be joining them tomorrow.
 
We had the opportunity to spend some time with her this past weekend and she wasn’t nearly as lucid as she had been two weeks ago when they moved her from ICU to the transitional floor. She knew we were there and was able to mouth Thank You after seeing Gus. I personally got the sense at that time that she had been trying to hold on in order to see him once more. The events of the last few days have served to further that impression. 
 
She has put up a tremendous fight and we have been blessed for the addtional time we have had. I don’t think one can ever be fully prepared for the actual moment of death of a loved one, but we have always known this was a possibility these past few months and now it appears to be more of a reality. While we don’t discount miracles, we also know they are called miracles for a reason.  
 
Thank God for the glorious promise we have of seeing her again beyond this life. For this we are indeed grateful.
