MayMetMo 2020 #20: Rainstorm for Flawless

The rain came down in sheets blinding the world further out that 5 feet in masses of the grey clouds being reflected and refracted by the downpouring water that made its won beat against the surface of the world.  The rooftops and the trashcans, the street, and the grass.  We watched in safety from the window in front of the fireplace, wrapped in blankets while the fire roared and occasionally hissed as a bit of rainwater would come down the chimney seeking escape from the storm but only finding the fire below.   Isn’t that always the way.   Still, the way it hummed against the house brought a melodious rhythm, and under the blanket, she nuzzled against me and I could feel her drifting off as her hair sprawled across my chest and I grew warm and felt the love she held for me in the clawed crook of her hand against my heart.    I watched the lucid grey of the day storm turn to nightfall and in the dark shaw the brilliant call of lightning and thunder churn the sky with flashes of blue and white against the black while the rain touched every surface in the world, but this one.  My eyes fluttered and closed, here, on this flawless night.
