Cardio Bunnying for 3-25-9
Got started on the actual writing of my paper last night. I still have a lot to do. I’m not going to worry about the presentation part of it until I actually write the paper. By the time I finish, I’ll know everything like the back of my hand.
I woke up earlyish today, before 9 AM. That’s early for me! Button didn’t sleep that well, said she had nightmares. I slept like a rock? Like always. I asked why she didn’t wake me up for cuddles. I had my little breakfast, and dawdled with her until we both left.
Intervals today were supposed to be based on week 3 of Couch-to-5K. Which says:
- Brisk five-minute warmup walk, then do two repetitions of the following:
Jog 90 seconds
Walk 90 seconds
Jog 3 minutes
Walk three minutes
I only now realized it said TWO repetitions, not three. I uh, did three. I’m an overachiever, what can I say? The first two intervals actually didn’t feel that bad. They felt almost easy. Still, I paced myself. That three minute rest almost felt TOO long. My recovery rate seems to have improved, I’m tending to get my breath back in well under a minute, even after the 3 minute interval.
I am pleased. Next jogging session is Sunday morning. We’ll see how I do then. I’ll try to make it around the entire circle without stopping. Then I’ll throttle myself from there based on my recovery rates.
Oh. And my ankle felt a lot better this morning. Go figure. Exercise makes me feel good. Didn’t feel any discomfort during my intervals.
I did some chins in the midst of my post-workout stretching. As I say, whenever I do only lat-pulls, I lose my ability to do chins or pull-ups. So. Goddamn it, I’m not letting that happen! I knocked out a set of ten, and then 8 chin-ups. As far as maintaining them, that’ll be just fine with me.
Feeling invigorated. Class tonight. And my CPR class is tomorrow. I’ll review the CPR for Healthcare Providers book again. I’ve gone over all this stuff before, but I want to be PREPARED. I’m going to KICK SOME ASS.
I think tonight is a night to take melatonin. Tomorrow is a big day, and I’d prefer to get up earlier to hit the gym. Give myself the best chance to succeed. I have shtuff to do, and I have enough time to do it. I have buffer time. But, best not to spend too much of it. It shall be done!
The girl is sore from Monday. She’s going to be even more sore next week when I put her through a more formalized routine.
Man, I feel so motivated right now. I know it’s only the first week of three months, but damn I feel good. I wonder why I never went full-throttle before.
ryn: wtf is “maternal age?” I’m 42, not dead yet. Your girlfriend is at prime “maternal age” if you’re referring to baby birthing. I’m at the purported “sexual peak” age. I sent over the book. I hope you enjoy. A lot of old stuff, but some good ideas too. I’ll try the step ups tonight. They sound painful, but worth a try. I have a problem with lunges and the broken/healing foot. When it’s the back foot, I can’t keep it pointing forward- it hurts to bend it like that, so maybe step ups will work instead.
