Pussy.

I asked my mom about le kitten. I’m not sure if this is going to work. Yes, it would be an indoor cat. Yes, I’d get it castrated. Yes, I’d feed it.

But can I pay for catfood? Let’s be honest: I don’t have a job. If I did, this wouldn’t be a problem. It’s like the Erik’s dad discussion. “Give me money. Give me more money.” Heh. Once he’s paid up, he’s fine, but until then it’s pretty much, “So, where’s my money?”

My dad hates animals, that’s kind of a given.

Just seems kind of funny. Erik has four cats wandering around his house, plus one outdoor cat. Not to mention all the animals around Cliff’s house. Dan has two dogs, and is still catsitting. Yet such a thing seems so difficult here. I’ll refrain from the “omg, everybody has a pussy except for ME.”

Maybe the timing isn’t right. I can’t see myself finding the courage to find a shitty part-time job in the span of a week. I also suppose taking the third unclaimed kitten is out of the question, at this point.

Cat food is not expensive. $8 for a bag that will last you at least a month? That’s not the issue. Cat litter is your issue. If you get something that won’t stink and change it regularly like you’re supposed to, it’s going to run you about $20/month.

BTW, don’t get the cat declawed. It’s better off with you not owning it. 😛

Cats are pretty low maintenance, but I agree with DA, litter is way more expensive than food. Then again, we had four cats and would go through a 40-lb bag of litter in about a week, so only one cat might not be so bad. Tidy Cat is pretty cheap, it’s about $5-$6 for a huge bag at Wal-Mart.

yea cat food is like the cheapest thing out there. You can get the wet can food, like 12-15cans in a pack for 4$, cans are like 25 cents each, and a huge tub of dry cat food for like 5 $, and they like seafood and cheese if you feed them human food!! LOL. kittens are the best

I had a cat that lived to be 25; don’t hop into a relationship with an animal you won’t want around that long. Most cats live to be between 10 and 20, but the same advice still applies. If you think you’re not ready now, then you are NOT ready.

RYN: If you ever find a brand of cat litter that does either of those things, you’d do well to market it to the alternative medicine industry…especially with where abortion rights are headed. 😉

I hate to sound negative… but the initial costs of getting a cat are VERY expensive. However, once you get past that it isn’t too bad. It’s the litter that will break you. Seriously.

cats require yearly vet visits…not to mention when they do stupid things like get in cat fights (they are escape artists) or eat advil. LOL that will costs you atleast an additional 200 bucks in unexpected. fixing isnt too bad. the litter and food isnt too bad. except for when you have a cat with a sensitive stomach like kitten..then you have to buy science diet. one bag for the month is around 25 bucks.

I have two pussies..*snickers* They are relatively low-cost. What’s going to eat your lunch is vet visits for worming meds, flea prevention and what not. Still… If you have 20-30 bucks a month to dedicate to the furball, then you should be fine.

store brand cat food is fine on a budget (a few fancy feast as a special treat is ok) I am all for a cat, but if you are gonna keep them indoors make sure they can roam around the house. Anyone who doesn’t like a cat will not adapt to the new arrangement well though, and same will go for the cat!

My dad doesn’t really care for animals, either. I don’t think you should take the kitty til you can really afford it easily. Why put more pressure on yourself? Yes, one day you will own a cat, or perhaps it will own you.
