WORDS.

Only the 17th, and I just cracked 50K on my nanonovel. Still near the halfway mark of the month, but I’m going by weeks. This is the middle of week three, which…. Well. I just need to keep the story moving in terms of time compression and how far in the future my novel ends. I have the end written, and a smattering of key sequences in between.

I’m finding that when I get lost in minute details and can’t think of what the next sequence should be, I try to go back to a strong narrative voice. Good or bad, it keeps the story moving forward. Not every little detail of their lives needs to be written.

Still honestly not sure if I’ll finish on time, but I’m holding myself to mental goals of where the story needs to be by certain dates. I’ve “only” written around 3000 words today, which is a relatively small output for a day off from work. I hope to get in another thousand or three after I head to the gym.

Yes. When I step back, I come back fresher. There’s characters to create and hearts to break! AND LOTS OF WITTY DIALOGUE TO BE WRITTEN!
