Hypersomnia
I can sleep anytime, anywhere.
I sleep on the train. I sleep in the rain. I sleep on a boat. I sleep with a …..
Well, okay, I do sleep on the train and bus. I even snore and dribble a bit. I sleep even when I’m not sleep deprived. And when I am sleep deprived, I even fall asleep at the bus stop.
I can even sleep on uppers that are meant to keep you from sleeping. Sure, I keep chewing gum while sleeping on those, just so I don’t grind my teeth away, but I’m still genuinely sleepi If I was feeling really stupid, I might even try meth just to see if I could sleep on that.
Wikipedia’s articles on Excessive Daytime Sleepiness and Hypersomnia pointed me to the Epworth Sleepiness scale.
How likely are you to doze off or fall asleep in the following situations, in contrast to feeling just tired? This refers to your usual way of life in recent times. Even if you have not done some of these things recently try to work out how they would have affected you.[1]
Use the following scale to choose the most appropriate number for each situation:
- 0 = no chance of dozing
- 1 = slight chance of dozing
- 2 = moderate chance of dozing
- 3 = high chance of dozing

I totalled 15. What did you get?
I think they need a 4 there. If I lie down to rest or get in a car for an hour, there’s more than just a high possibility of going to sleep. I just know for sure I will.
It’s just another part of my day that I won’t remember. I’m usually high, so…falling asleep..it’s not that big a thing. But hey..congrats on finding out about your uh..newfound superpower of being able to sleep anywhere.
