Panic:
Getting a text message from the people you have a job interview with wishing you good luck for the interview, despite having been previously told it’s just over a week away.

Relief:
Getting a call from them apologising for sending the text in error.

(This happened yesterday, but i couldn’t post it then for obvious reasons.)

The more I think about it, the more I’m in favor of the IDEA of an international round (or two) of matches in theory. Although I’m not sure I agree with the exact proposal on the table now. I’ve heard a lot people comment that a huge chunk of the Prem’s revenue comes from intl TV rights. So isn’t it only fair intl fans a game or two? In fact, w/o that intl TV revenue (1 billion quid I think),

ticket prices for the English fans would be even more ridiculous than they are now. So you could argue that the English fans tickets are subsidized by the intl fan, so it seems only far to give the latter a game or two.

RYN: My theory doesn’t assume that at all. The average Prem side gets 45 million quid in TV revenues yearly. So I believe that would make it so that even the bottom side gets over 30 million. To say nothing of the 11 million in parachute payments relegated sides get. So Derby will get over 40 million just for being the worst side in Prem history.

As for Man Utd fans, they’re so angry that they’re staying away from Old Trafford in droves, eh? I’m aware they didn’t like the Glazers. But at the same time, that’s irrelevant. When Man U was made into a public company (pre-Glazers), the cash flowed in and the fans loved it. They didn’t complain about this external cash when it bought great players like Ronaldo. But when you make yourselves

a public company, it’s always a possibility that you’ll end up being owned by someone you don’t like. That’s the risk. You accept the risk in exchange for the cash. If you don’t want the risk, then refuse the cash. You can’t have it both ways. That’s why no one else has any sympathy for them. They’re reaping what they sowed.
