So the dollar is toast as of July 1

I got another financial newsletter yesterday, and it explained why the US wants to go war with Iran. It is not the threat of Iran having nukes, that is just a convenient excuse. It is simply Iran’s stated aim to sell its oil in other currencies than the dollar. The fact that the world had to buy all its oil in dollars, since Richard Nixon managed to set this up in the seventies with the Saoudis, meant that the dollar continued its role as reserve currency of the world, the Petro Dollar, since who does not need oil? So the US could keep printing dollars out of thin air and borrowing as if there was no tomorrow.

If Iran starts selling its oil in Yuan or Euros, and other countries already barter their oil for goods for instance, then the dollar is toast. Iran aims to activate this exchange by July 1.

Hence the war mongering by the US. Saddam Hussein wanted to do the same, see where it got him? Dead. The Iraq war was started on false pretenses. The lies are exposed.

To us Americans, a worthless dollar means hyper inflation, and lots more poverty. But of course it also means our manufacturing can compete with others again.. Time to set up factories here… Time to invest your money in offshore currency like the Singapore Dollar, or the Chinese Yuan.

The above is an old expectation, it is doomsday thinking. If the news on technological breakthroughs is properly released, there won’t be much crashing. For instance the ability to live practically forever. But how can you release it without proof. Who lived 400 years and is back to testify to everyone 🙂 I guess it is good enough if sick and dying are turned to healthy people..

I saw on CNN how Hillary Clinton related that everyone was so tense while Bin Laden was being targeted, I wonder why, in this day and age, there are still assassinations like that. In order to regain some moral standing, the US should have handed over Bin Laden to the International Court of Justice, in The Hague, for a trial. But since the US does not acknowledge that court, it decides to play the old lone ranger game. It is so easy to just kill someone. But it leaves a loong wound in people’s conscience.

Whatabout the Australian dollar? It seems relatively low right now. The Chinese currency ir controlled by a corrupt political party. Gambling on it seems like a losing game to me. The house is the only winner. I admit I know nothing about Singapornomics. I hear their women are alluring, tho. 😉 ryn: Naw we’re retiring it next week. The application has gone multi-platform. Sun, like Silicon Graphics before it, fell prey to Moore’s Law. No matter how cleverly their engineers optimize specialty hardware, after three years pass, cheap vanilla hardware will achieve the same performance.

Interesting to say the least. Have you noticed (it hasn’t got much press) hundreds upon hundreds of banker-types are resigning their positions? The 27th richest in the world (Kwok brothers) were arrested on bribery charges? Interesting developments. I wonder if land isn’t the most solid investment (all puns included)

RYN: Well-stated.

I think you give way too much credit to the government in hatching such an insidious conspiracy. Yes, certain corporations love a war (Halliburton comes to mind) because they make piles of money, but we spend billions and the economy as a whole doesn’t benefit. And a war with Iran would NOT be like invading Iraq. Even if Iran didn’t launch a single nuke, we’d lose maybe 50,000 soldiers or more ina protracted land war. Americans would find it intolerable. And suppose we attacked Iran and Iran nuked Israel? Israel would retaliate with nukes and we wouldn’t come out of such a holocaust with much profit. I suspect we’d rather not fight this one. As for bin Laden, we have the report of the SEALS that there was a fire fight. We had no problem turning Hussein over for justice, and I think we wouldn’t have minded parading bin Laden alive. Since bin Laden directly ordered an attack on the United States, we had every right to take him out.

RYN: Thanks but I think I’m too soft on myself if anything!

I would have liked to see him go to the Hague. It is atrocious to me to calculatingly kill an unarmed man.
