A Very Busy Weekend
Hey, ODers! I had such a busy weekend that I didn’t take any real time to update. Sorry! So we’ll start with Friday. Friday was amazing day. I did some reading, and played a little bit of Splatoon 2 before making chicken wraps and getting ready for my next social event, which was Monster Mini Golf. I’ve really enjoyed hanging with this group. Some of hte people in the group are older than me, but I really don’t care. We have so much fun together and every once in a while, I learn a new game!
But Friday was definitely all about Mini Golf. Let me tell you a short history of me and mini golf: I’m terrible at it, but I am always fascinated by the different courses I’ve played on. Why? Because I will never, and I mean never be able to play traditional golf. Why? Clubs are too heavy, I don’t drive (so golf cart would be out unless I went with someone) , and even if I did, most courses have a lot of hills and I’d probably fall, twist my foot, or some other thing. So Mini golf is my golf of choice.
This place was SO cool. When I was a preteen and all the way up until I was 18, I was in a bowling league and occasionally they would host black light “Cosmic” Bowling. That’s what this place automatically reminded me of, but on steroids. It did take a bit to adjust to the dark. But that’s okay. I found my way around pretty good after about 10 minutes. So how do I sum this up?
The games left a whole lot to be desired. Most of the games were broken or out of order. They didn’t have Skee-Ball which I was really looking forward to. They did have my Tropical Storm type game (Or is it called the Cyclone? I can’t remember…) that I liked. So I used about 7.00 worth of Tokens on that. Got a whole bunch of tickets. Now of course Monster Mini Golf is really more for teenagers and families. (At least where prizes for ticket redemption are concerned.) But I was determiend to get this crescent moon ring. I wouldn’t wear it, but I thought I’d keep it on my Wicca altar for charging and then wear it on a chain when it came to needing some extra peace of mind.
But I will get back to that ring. Connie and two other people showed up to actually Golf. Poor Connie had a broken and torn shoulder, and I have no idea why she didn’t decided to just reschedule the event for us. I sure would have. But nonetheless, she golfed! And she paid for my round of Monster Mini Golf.
Now to the course! As I mentioned, the whole thing is lit up in black lights and fluorescent paint. This did prove to be a challenge for my older friends, so I took the lead and helped them navigate each par. As we went through the entire course, I would take pics, wanting to document everything. By the end, though, I was just ready to be done. I was hot, and my back was hurting. Bill, a very nice gentleman that played with us, kept score, and won. Jennifer, a new comer to the group, and I came in dead last. (Honestly, I was expecting that for myself.) and we got free games of golf as consolation prizes.
As a concept, it was a great time. This particular location probably needs to be revamped and have things repaired. The staff of ONE person (which was probably okay since the place was basically empty except for myself and my group) was amazingly friendly, and very helpful. Loved her and if you were allowed to tip an employee, I would have. I don’t know if I’d revisit this location again or not due to the things i mentioned above, but I did love the golfing, and would visit a different version of the franchise if I had the chance.
Saturday:
Saturday was very low key which was perfect for me. The only thing major I did was go see Avengers: Infinity War. I’m not going to talk about the movie because it’s really hard to without revealing stuff that goes down. I will just say though be prepared for an emotional roller coaster when you go, especially if you’ve seen most of the MCU up to this point. I can’t wait to see where they go with the second part of this saga. It’s going to be interesting.
Last Night:
To be perfectly honest, I was almost ready not to go out last night. I hadn’t been feeling well since Friday (I think partly due to the pain, but I’m also having some issues with my ….female parts right now that I need to figure out how to fix) , but since i found out my friend Pammi was going, I amped myself up for the buffet dinner with my New Port Richey gaming group.
The dinner was amazing. The service left a whole lot to be desired for a new location and being under new ownership. The server we had did not seem happy to have such a huge table. She sighed a lot, and my friend Pammi even said she heard her suck her teeth when we cleared our own plates and stuff so we could play our games. At previous restaurants, the server and even the manager in some cases have done it for us, and with a smile! Let me not forget to mention they didn’t give us a banquet room like we requested, too. So yeah there was a LOT that wasn’t good. I don’t think I will go back if they go again. I just was not happy overall with that place.
The gaming time though, once we actually got that started, was perfection. There were three new people who were actually veterans of the group but new to me, and they were so much fun! I learned (finally!) how to play Phase 10! And I’m serious when I say, I am addicted! I came home and put it on my phone. A paid version, no less.
I didn’t win my first game, but I learned a lot about how to play, and that was cool. Came home and crashed within about an hour.
Today and tomorrow, I am resting. Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, I am busy, and on Saturday we’re meeting at Denny’s and Sunday, I’m going to Clearwater with my family for Mother’s Day.
Mini golf is the only golf I am any good at 😂
@thediarymaster LOL. Don’t worry. Golf (the real golf) isn’t for everyone.
