Even though I am 32, I do have a wild imagination. I read a lot of Young Adult novels because that’s what I write. Lately, I’ve been reading a lot of Cassandra Clare. I may start re-reading City of Bones, the first book in the Mortal Instruments series as I work on getting the entire series of that, and the Infernal Devices as Nook books.

I love this series for a number of reasons. One of the main reasons is the way she uses her characters and setting to tell the story. I feel that her books are very character driven, which means that she has put a lot of time and thought into them. I know that Cassandra Clare started as a Fanfiction writer, and it was Harry Potter fanfiction. But I don’t believe that she deliberately made Jace to be like Malfoy. The only similarities they really have is the blonde hair. And with Jamie Bower Campbell taking over the role in the movie adaptation, I am really excited.  I was at first very disappointed with the casting. But I’ve accepted him as my Jace. I love it.

Robert Sheehan, too. He was cast as Simon Lewis. The guy’s British, but he definitely sounds like the Simon I know and love in the books. I could learn to love him. I am excited for this whole movie, if you can’t tell. I’ll be buying my ticket for it in July. I just…I don’t even! At first I was nervous about the whole deal, but now I’m like, elated to see the Mortal Instruments getting its much due attention!

PS: for any of you going to see the movie before reading the books… you will more than likely miss a thing or two. Just a fair warning. I don’t want anyone who’s not read the books coming to me and telling me they know Jace better than I do, or any of the books’ millions of fans, for that matter.
