The Rainy Season/And thoughts on Harry Potter

Is anyone elses getting sick of the rain? Just me? Okay. Well, I guess I wouldn’t mind it nearly as much if  it were more sporadic. But it isn’t. It’s been ever day for last two  weeks, and I’m telling you. It’s having a very negative effect on my health and mood. Today I woke up extra nauseated and stuffy, and just really not feeling well.

Yesterday/ last night was pretty good, though. After about 5 hours of working on a transcript, Daddy C invited me out to Hooters with some friends of ours. On our way there, he had to go to  Bed, Bath, and Beyond. So he dropped me off at Books-A-Million where I spent my Bingo money on more books. Man, if I had a room in my own house, it would be floor to ceiling filled with bookshelves.  Yesterday, I treated myself to In the After Light (the third book in The Darkest Minds trilogy) by Alexandra Bracken, and  Life Like by Jay Kristoff, who was the co-author on one of the first space opera type series I’ve ever read and loved, The Illuminae Files.

After that, we headed over to dinner. It was so good, what I could eat of it. About halfway through my burger  something got caught in my throat, giving it a rather scratchy feeling, and I was unable to finish my Mushroom Swiss burger. 🙁  How disappointing. The good news is that I was able to bring it home with me, so that helped.  I hate wasting food when I go out to eat because I don’t get to do it often enough.

One of the ladies that was there was my friend Maggie. She is fur mama of two adorable French bulldogs who just love me to death. Her one dog, Gypsy really gloms on to me when I’m over there. As it turns out, she needs me to go and let the dogs out later today, so I’ll get to see my babies for a bit.  And that’s the other funny thing. She knows I call her dogs my babies, and she’s completely okay with it. LOL. I’m just hoping I’ll feel well enough to  enjoy my visit. Right now, I doubt it.

The weather today has also forced me to cancel my movie plans. I just don’t feel like doing anything that requires me to go out in this mess at the moment. It’s just gross. Tomorrow will be a different story since I will be inside. I’ve very rarely missed a Humana day since they started. I’d rather not start now.

Besides, I have to pick up the copy of The Deathly Hallows that Bert found for me. It doesn’t have a jacket, but I figure I can always get another copy of it down the road with a jacket. Once I have the other 3 that I’m missing.  My goal is to complete my Potter collection by September, when the first book would turn 20 years old. I still can’t believe it’ll be that old already. I didn’t start reading them until aftr the first movie came out, but still. That feels like forever ago. Daniel (my youngest brother whom I call my baby due to the fact that I partially raised him after Mom became a single mother for the second time) was only 7.  and I was 20. Geezus. To put it into perspective, the first Potter book came out in 1997, making Daniel only 3, and I was still in High School.  Now I really do feel old. Geez.  But yeah. That’s my plan. I want to own all the hardcover editions of Harry Potter because I feel like I was robbed of that opportunity back in the day. So to make that happen, I have to get one starting next month, one in July, and one in August. Then by September I will have them all. (And that includes a jacketed copy of Deathly Hallows.). I may start my rewatch of the movies next weekend if not this weekend.  Its been a long time since I’ve seen them all.  Heh. Maybe I’ll start with Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.  I could use some Eddie Redmayne in my life about now… he’s so adorable.

Okay. So that’s about all I have to say right now.  Oh! Wait. I forgot to tell you guys. I did a much longer file yesterday and got 5/5 all across the board. 🙂 Considering the sometimes annoying audio quality, I am happy with this.  See you guys next entry!

It’s hard to believe it’s been almost twenty years since HP first came out!

@thediarymaster It is! I’m very happy for JK Rowling that her book series turned into the phenomenon it has. Not every author gets that type of success.
