It was October 1998. I was surfing the web looking for interesting sites, and Netscape 'What's New' featured the Open Diary. The idea intrigued me. I started this diary on October 22, 1998 from the middle of the prairie in Kansas. I've been here from the beginning.
For long years I worked out the wrinkles and ripples in my life and documented it here. Heartaches and happiness created the canvas on which I painted the story of my life for total strangers, some becoming friends, and I grew as a result.
I now live on the edge of the Pacific Ocean, at the mouth of the Columbia River between Washington and Oregon. I've fallen in love with David and married him in 2018. We are exquisitely happy. We have a great little dog named Trixie. The kids are good. I have NEVER been happier.
I credit much of my evolution to this interaction. When I was in struggle and chaos, this site allowed me to talk it out with myself. Gain insights from others who have lived something like it. The internet is a tool. It can be used for good or bad. This site, this experience, this effort has been nothing but good for me and mine.
Life is golden. We are grateful.

I never enjoyed New Years Eve. Such an anticlimactic thing - the build-up and then hurrah! and then what? Drunks crying, bad weather, headaches...arguments, dangerous car rides... no thanks. When I was married to the kids' father, he often decided to unburden himself on New Years Eve to me, then ...Continue Reading... -

Tis the Season

A week on the medicated shakes and I notice a boost in my energy level, improvement in the quality of my sleep, and a smoothing in the texture of my skin. I am not hungry like I feared I might be, so I am happy about that. Thanksgiving with my family was nice, slow and pleasant.&nb...Continue Reading... -

My Aunt Sally died a little over a month ago leaving her 4 daughters fighting over the estate. One wants everything sold for the cash and the others can't buy their sister out - so the lawyer is taking steps to sell it all, including my family's original homestead farm. Sally&nbs...Continue Reading... -

Fever free now for 2 weeks so I am well enough for the first round of immunizations. The doctor is concerned that I might get pneumonia while my immune system is so low and like Jim Henson, it might just kill me before I realize how sick I am. I have 3 more medical tests to…Continue Reading... -

SQL errors on the server here and I wish I could help them keep up. My fever is returning at sundown but the days are manageable so I am going in to the office. I needed to be able to look well and be seen looking capable. People so quickly forget all you hav...Continue Reading...
