American Idol: The Finals – Gwen Stefani

Love Gwen Stefani.  😉

 
LaKisha —Let’s Dance — Of course she can sing that song.  I don’t think she sold it though, and she’s awkward in her attempts to dance.  I’m perfectly fine seeing her just stand there and let that big voice out. 
 
Chris S — Everything She Does Is Magic — Why does he carry the damn mike stand?  I kind of liked it and then there were parts that weren’t so good.  Ok, I get that he didn’t have the rhythm right, but that’s a kind of odd song rhythmically.  I did think the song suited him, even though I am anti-Police, but it was a very average performance.
 
Gina — I’ll Stand by You — Brilliant song selection.  Well sung.  Not unique, but well sung.  She’s kind of awkward on stage, doesn’t have much stage presence.  It’s interesting that she’s got such a strong voice, but she doesn’t project confidence on the stage.  Maybe she’ll get more confident in the weeks ahead.
 
Sanjaya – Bathtub — Love the faux-hawk.  At least he knows he’s not talented and so he’s going for funkiness, but if you go for the funk, you need to back it up, and of course, he can’t so it falls flat..  Oy!  I don’t know this song, but it was pretty awful.
 
Haley — True Colors — *cringes* Nice song, badly sung. 

BTW, as an aside, the best sung version of this song that I’ve ever heard was sung by Rob Thomas!

 
Phil — Every Breath You Take — The song suited him, and he sang it well.  I wish he didn’t annoy me.  I can’t quite figure out what it is about him that annoys me so much either.
 
Melinda — Heaven Knows — This woman is clearly light years ahead of everyone else in this competition.  Within the first 10 seconds, she’s got you. 
 
Blake —  Love Song — I don’t know, I kind of liked it, but it seemed iffy in places. 
 
Jordin — Hey Baby — The song was pitched too low for her.  She sang it well though.  Needs to move around the stage better.  I think she had fun with it and it was well sung.
 
Chris R — Don’t Speak — This doesn’t suit him at all.  Very blah, and I love this song.  He’s got big balls for choosing it though.
 
Bottom should be Sanjaya, Haley and Chris R. with Sanjaya going home…finally.  Please, for the love of God go home tonight!
