Final Thoughts on American Idol/Stuff

First, American Idol.

Was that Kelly’s version of Alanis’ You Gotta Know?  If so, it just doesn’t compare.  But then again, I don’t really think I want to hear anyone else BUT Alanis sing that song.

I really like Gwen Stefani.  I like that she wears funky things.  I like her music.  I just like her.  😉  I also think she’s gorgeous.

What a long show.

Constantine looks dirty.  He STILL irks me.  Damn Schmoopy Eyed Idiot.

Hearing Carrie sing I’ll Stand by You made me long to hear Chrissie Hynde and her simple way of delivering a song so powerfully.  She’s awfully pretty — was she that pretty on the show?  I remember her being cute before.

Wow, fabulous for Chris Daughtry.  It was kind of a diss to Taylor and Katherine though.  But hey, we all knew Chris had it — that voice.

And a Wow for Carrie, too.  6 million units.  The biggest selling idol.  I guess Simon was right when he said she would outsell them all.

Isn’t this show over yet?

By the way, how did you like Clay’s "commercial" on Dancing with the Stars last night?  Cool moustache.  😉

Do you think Joe Perry wondered what parallel universe he’d just been dropped into?  I mean come on?  Sanjaya?  With Joe Perry?  And WTF was up with that feathered hair and wind machine?  *gags*

And there’s that crying little wench again.  ;(

What?  Taylor’s still alive?  His song was pretty boring.

Nice try with the stripes, Ruben.  He sounded better than I remember him.  Jordin was cute on stage with him, and showed more pizazz and stage presence than usual.

I do forget she ‘s really young.  And I do think she’ll get better on stage, but right now she’s just not that comfortable and relaxed up there.  She’ll get there.

Nice to see Bette.  She was a bit pitchy — 😉 — but she’s an awful lot of fun.  Her stage shows are great and so silly.  I do wonder how she’s going to put on a show day after day after day in Vegas — I don’t think she has the pipes for it any more.  Ouch, she really has to strengthen her voice.

They must have just gotten the rights to some Beatles songs.  Wasn’t Sgt. Pepper an odd choice of songs for Kelly?

I was listening to Taylor sing A Day in the Life and it made me think back to John Lennon, who just sang it effortlessly, and here is Taylor striving to put — what? — into it.  Feeling?  I guess maybe he feels he has something to prove, but sometimes less is so much more.

What?  More Beatles songs??

Hey, no love for Clay?

I’d forgotten about Brandon, and Stephanie.  They both left too soon.

What?  That’s the end of the two hours, my TiVo stopped recording — who won the friggin’ show?  ;(

Good lord, I had to go to MSNBC to see who won.  Good for Jordin!  She deserved it over Blake.  Was it a nice ending?  I can’t believe I sat through this damn show to not see the end.  ;(

In other news I am both happy and really sad to report that I have found Coco a new home.  Her name is Sarah (aside: I have never, ever met a Sarah I didn’t instantly like).  She’s 24-years-old and married to a 24-year-old man.  She’s a graduate of Virginia Tech.  She’s a special ed teacher and he’s a military man.  She already has a 1-year-old 1/2 poodle 1/2 jap. chin.  We’ve been corresponding back and forth for about a month now.  I liked her instantly and had a really great feeling about her when I read her application and answered her very inquisitive and thoughtful emails.  She really came through as being very caring and responsible.  She also comes through as being a deep thinker.  Meaning she’s not doing this on some sort of whim.  She is totally in love with her little guy Bear and she really wanted a companion for him, as well as for her husband.  😉  Bear is her baby and Bear is a mama’s doggy and her husband is jealous.  *LOL*  I said, "No trouble there, Coco seems to actually prefer men…I’d say he spends 60% of his time with Brian and 40% of the time with us."  We were to meet last weekend in Somerville at a park to see howBear and Coco reacted to each other.  But because of the weather we canceled.  She came to meet me last night with Bear.  It went swimmingly well.  Coco and Bear got along great and had a really good time on their doggy play date.  We decided I’d keep Coco until she’s settled in her new condo and school is out so she can really assimilate him into her family.  He goes home with her on June 27th, the day before Brian’s birthday.

I feel really good about this.  No reservations and no second thoughts.  Finally.

We’re going to North Carolina for Independance Day.  We’re leaving here June 29th or 30th and will be there until either July 5th or 6th.  I figured we’d better get there before Brian is being released back to work because when that happens we won’t be able to get there in November like usual.  So we’re all meeting for the 4th.  Yay!

Brian’s knee continues to make progress and then regress.  Strangely they got the knee to move the whole 90%, but he cannot do it himself.  He can’t walk down stairs normally still, can’t lift over 10 pounds, can’t stand for any great length of time and still has a noticable limp.  Last week almost overnight he lost 10% range of motion in the knee.  They said this might happen, so we continue to work on that.  I say We, like I really have anything to do with it.  Heh.

Finally, Alice, my old neighbor brought your card over to the house the other day.  Thank you so much for your thoughtful words and that gorgeous card.  I actually kept it and am slipping it into a frame because it’s so Barbie-licious!

MELISSA: I hope your move is going well and you are settled or settling into your new home state.  I think about you often and I keep meaning to stop by your OD and say thank you for the awesome earrings.  But I get side tracked with work and home and never seem to make it there.

To the rest of my friends here, know that just because I am not here leaving you all endless notes doesn’t mean I am not always thinking of each and every one of you and wondering how you are and hoping everything in your lives are going swell.

Now I must get to work.  *Blows kisses*

I’m so happy for Coco!!! Jordin won.

I’da seen him gone right after Sanjaya, though. Blake got on my last nerve!

Country is the perfect genre for Carrie. Her stage presence has improved tremendously. While on AI she always came off to me as cold and boring. She’s learned to be a better performer and her singing has improved. Country needed her. I agree with you about Bette. I was surprised at her voice. And she kinda cracked one at the end… she’s no Celine. And her voice isn’t very strong like it used to be.
