American Idol: As I Hear It – Andrew Lloyd Webber
Andrew Lloyd Weber night — woohoo. Song choices — uh oh.
Syesha — One Rock n’ Roll Too Many — What’s that from? She sang it well and got into it. I didn’t care for the song, but she seemed really confident.
Jason — Memories — Great song, but uh — well, that was unusual. I don’t think it suited him.
Brooke — You Must Love Me — This was an interesting song in Evita. I thought she might choose I Don’t Know How to Love Him. I think she did this reasonably well. Awkward hand movements and not good stopping and apologizing for the stop mid-song. Just keep singing. Better to sing a wrong word than just stop like that.
David A — Think of Me — HATED IT!!! I really like this song and this was crap.
Carly — Jesus Christ Superstar — Oh lord, if she sang All I Ask of You, I would have reached into the TV screen and scratched the tattoos off her arms! I never liked this song, but she sang it well in the beginning but it got too chaotic for me. Maybe because I don’t like her very much? I just don’t think she has much feeling — or any.
David C — Music of the Night — Interesting and very brave choice – gotta admit I was scared for him when it was announced what he’d sing. I worried he wouldn’t have been able to hit that BIG note mid-song. Have to admit he got to me…I wept, which I do when this song is sung beautifully. Who knew he had a truly musical voice? I sure didn’t. I see a side career — the new Vegas Phantom. I’d go see it. Of course, on stage he would dig into it more. He showed great range and control. Bravo!! By the way, not that it compares to Clay’s physical transformation, but this guy is looking so much better these days.
Bottom 3 — Jason, Brooke and Carly.
Going home? Probably kitty cat Jason who should download Betty Buckley’s Memories so he can hear how an aging glamour cat should sound. Bye bye, Jason.
Based on what I read this should have been AI amnesty week. I think it was a tough gig for these kids.
