Working early, Ethan talks other updates

I’m writing from work again. I just got in after walking for almost two hours to get here. The bus doesn’t start running until an hour after my shift starts, so I had to use my feet to get me in today, cause I’d rather get a little early morning exercise than waste $20 on a cabbie that will go out of his/her way to bleed me dry. I didn’t mind the walk, it was warm and it didn’t rain that much. My feet are a little sore, but I’ll live and I actually made good time today. Usually it takes a little over two hours to walk the distance, but today I got in around ninety minutes into my stroll. I had a good pace and just stuck with it the entire time. I wouldn’t want to do this everyday, but I don’t mind doing it on Sundays when the buses are not running.

This have been rather busy here at the call center, so lately when I’ve been getting home… the last thing I want to do after looking at a screen for 8-12 hours a day is look at another screen. Hence, the lack of good entries lately and for that I apologize. I love writing in my diary, but lately when I’m not working, I’m looking after my boy or sleeping. I’ve got a few days off coming later this week and I’ll use them to sleep and to get my ass in gear and post a few more entries and reviews. I have a few things I am eager to post, but just haven’t had the time or energy to get it down either on paper or here in the diary.

So… things here on the island have been pretty average. Leah is still working at that dump of a daycare, and Ethan is still the happy little boy that continues to grow like a friggin’ weed. He’s started to repeat words that we say as well. Earlier this morning, Leah said that she was going to change his bum, and Ethan spend the next half hour after that saying bum back to us. It was cute, and it’s nice to see that he’s not going to have too much trouble picking up the language. When I took him grocery shopping Yesterday afternoon after I got back from work, Ethan actually asked me for something. He kept saying “anna” repeatedly, and I didn’t realize what he was saying till I took a look around. Sure enough, behind us was a huge stack of bananas. So Ethan was obviously asking for me to pick him up some bananas, which I did happily. It’s weird seeing him use all these words, and soon they’ll form sentences, and then lines of rebellion… but that’s a bit far off. I don’t have to worry about that just yet. I’m just glad he hasn’t picked up any of the four letter words I’ve been tossing around. I’ll have to give that talk the heeve ho, or else I’ve got a date with the couch…

So things are decent here, nothing real earth shattering going on here on the island. I had to work on Canada Day, but I got double time and half for that, which is always cool. The extra coin will be used to buy the next Potter book which comes out two days after the next payday. I really hate the cover of the new book, and I’m referring the european version which Canada gets the same print of. I’ve seen the US cover to the book and it looks a little better, but I might end up going with the adult edition, which is a little more plain but not as childish as the one that is releasing here on the Sixteenth. Speaking of books, I managed to find a little time to myself and I managed to finish reading two books that I was dying to get through. I read a book by Nelson DeMille titled ‘Up Country’ which is the sequel to a popular book that turned movie he wrote titled ‘The General’s Daughter’. I read the book to Daughter and it was good, but the sequel was better. It was detailed and huge, so I can see why this would be difficult to turn into a movie. I enjoyed reading it and would love to read another adventure taken by this character if I ever get the chance.

The other book I read was ‘Man & Wife’ by Tony Parsons. This is also another sequel to a book that I love reading a few years ago. I bought this book off ebay and got a really great hardbound copy for only a few pounds. It was a steal, especially since the copy I bought was autographed by the author. As for the book itself, it was a great read and a book that I would recommend as this guy’s stuff is amazing. Great dialogue and a hilarious sense of humor makes his books very enjoyable to read. I’ve really enjoyed reading his books, and I intend to get the other two he’s written soon. Something to munch on after I read the next Potter book I guess…

So that’s it from the island for now, I’ve got to get back to the grindstone. I hope everyone is having a great weekend and I also hope that my American readers have a great holiday tomorrow…

What exactly do you do for a living, anyway?

RYN: I don’t see it as a religious thing. I cheated on a girlfriend I was commited to. Whichever word you wanna use for it, that fact remains.

Kids are at their cutest when they’re figuring out the language. 🙂 ryn: I was actually more amused that I had a nightmare about it than anything else. It just was so absurd. It’s a party like any other, and that’s why I want to have it. We’ve already made our commitment to each other, that’s not why we’re doing it – we just want to have a fun day, that’s all! 🙂 Just requires a lot of work!
