Weekend Recap: Sunday

Okay, I lied… this one won’t be as long so let’s give it a go. Here are the details of my final day in Toronto:

5:00am – This day started early, but it was Jonathan who wanted to get up, not Ethan. It took so long to get Ethan to sleep that I took Jonathan out of the hotel room and down to the lobby to not distrub him or Chris who were both soundly sleeping. I had to nuke Jonathan’s bottle in the microwave at the lobby snackbar anyway so I took the little guy with me to do that.

5:15am – with the bottle nuked up and ready… I decided to feed Jonathan in the lobby cause they had a huge big screen TV there with some rather comfy couches to watch it from. So I sat there and watched sports highlights while feeding the little guy his bottle.

5:45am – At this point I had fed Jonathan half his bottle and changed him in the lobby and had started to feed him the second half. This is when my Dad arrived in the lobby and sat down with me to talk. He had actually come down to get something to drink from the snack bar and saw that I was down here. While he was at it, he bought something for me to drink and we watch sports clips and talked for the next hour or so.

7:00am – At this point I put Jonathan back to his hotel room with Leah and Mom who were still sleeping/recovering. He was fast asleep so he wouldn’t bug them for a while, and didn’t want to bug Chris who was up often with Ethan. So I let Jonathan sleep in his carseat, which was nestled nicely into one of the easy chairs. After that I started to pack up my stuff. I had to leave early for the airport.

8:00am – Dad and I used some of our complimentary passes we were given yesterday and had a great breakfast. We also got to eat breakfast with a man named Joe, who was one of my Dad’s cousins from his mother’s side. According to Joe, he last saw me when I was Ethan’s age… so it was cool to meet someone new from the family and talk to him for a while. We all had a great breakfast, and with that I had to soon take off for the airport to make my 11am flight.

9:00am – You have to leave early to be on the ball for your flight, especially when going to a massive airport like Pearson International. Both Ethan and Jonathan were awake, as was Leah who was only suffering from a mild hangover. I said my goodbyes and kissed them all before leaving the hotel for the airport. I will miss them while they’re in Tennessee, but know they’ll have fun and that’s the important part. It’s going to be a lot of fun, and Mom and Dad will get some good quality time with their Grandkids. So with that, Dad and I left for the airport.

9:30am – I arrived to Pearson International, and said goodbye to my Dad and that I’ll see in him May. The lineup was very small and I made it through rather quickly. I expected much worse so I had over an hour to site at the gate and just hang out.

10:55am – Boarding was annouced for our flight, and we all packed into the plane.

11:20am – I was back in the air and on my way back to the airport. I was very tired so I slept most of the flight, nothing really significant to report here.

4:30pm Island Time (3:00pm EST): My flight landed back on the Island and I had returned to my winter wonderland. And while it took a few minutes for me to actually get off because I was pretty much at the rear of the plane, I didn’t have to wait for baggage because I had none. I had only one carryone since I was only away for two days pretty much. I zipped through baggage and was the first one out of the Terminal and one my way home via taxi.

I was finally home, and back in farmilar territory. I made something small to eat that night, watched a new episode of the West Wing and went to bed rather early. I was going to back to work the next day and also had some big plans for my first full day here alone. Yet I’ll save that information for another entry.

So that was my weekend in Toronto. It was fast, hectic and over in a flash but while it had its good and bad moments… it was a lot of fun and I think Leah and the kids did as well. I called them last night and they were back at my Cousin’s house and will head to Tennessee today cause Dad has to be back at work on Tuesday. So that’s it for now, and I’ll be back tomorrow to announce how my Monday went. Take care everyone and I’ll be around…

I never had a large extended family. I had one cousin, and she died nearly 20 years ago, an uncle and his wife. That was it. And they always lived more than a thousand miles away from my family, so I only got to meet them once.
