First day with the personal trainer…

After the interview, I went back to the gym to have a little time to think and to meet my new personal trainer. So I went early and did a little cardio before our meeting, and the guys name is Steve. He’s a very friendly guy and was very open to what I was there to do and seemed very eager to help me acheive my goals, which is the kind of support I need when trying to make these changes. We talked for a while, did some measurements to see where I am now and were we want my weight/size to go. And then for another hour, he gave me a run through of the kind of workouts he would like me to do whenever I’m hitting the weights at the gym. I learned a lot about the machines and stuff while working out on them, so I found the workout to be very productive and educational. It was a great workout and I’m booked to do another with Steve again next week… where he plans to alternate to legs with training. But we now have a schedule and an idea of what to do over the next month or so, and then in four weeks we’ll do a review and see how things are progressing.

I thought the meeting with Steve was very productive, and I really like this trainer and think that he’s going to be a very, very positive influence on myself and my workout. I look forward to working with him and using his knowledge and experience to help make a changes for the better. I think Leah would be happy if she saw the kind of progress that I am making with Steve and that in the long run this will be a very good thing. I’ve been hitting the gym eagerly, but now that I have a better workout planned, I can now get a better workout and concentrate on specific machines and weights to focus on my goals. This is very exciting and while today is a rest day, I will go back and hit the gym tomorrow and continue the progress.

As for the diet, that has been harder to keep… but the good news I have kept it. I have not had a single cola since Friday, and plan to go longer than a week this time and see how long I can keep this up. I’m sticking to fruit juices and water, and last night for supper (as an example) I had another salad but this time added a little protein with a grilled skinless, boneless chicken breast. I used my trusty George Foreman grill, and that is an amazing machine that cooked the breast up in less than ten minutes. I cook a lot of stuff on that grill and will use it to cook up my protein options, such as steaks, pock chops, stuff like that. I love to also cook fish and shark on that as well. Really good stuff and I need to start adding that in to supper cause I need more than just a salad before calling it a day. I’m going to also keep posting my weekly diet here on the diary, just to keep track of what I’m eating and compare it to previous weeks. I’ve also opened a new chapter in my diary, titled “Diet/Workout 2006” which will be just for this kind of stuff. Feel free to take a look at it and offer any advice/support you deem necessary.

On the job front, I have not heard back yet from that compnay whether or not they want me for a 3rd interview. Maybe it’s for the best, that way it saves me from having to fight with Leah and Mom about the future of my family. It’s not that I want to gamble my family’s future on one job that isn’t guarenteed, but the more then tell me I can’t do it… the more I want to do it just to prove them wrong. I hate it when people say I can’t do something, but that’s just me I guess. I’ll update you if I hear anything, but so far the phone has been silent.

Everyone have a good Wednesday, and I’ll be around…

Peter

good luck with everything. it sounds like you are doing the diet and exercise thing the right way. it has to be a life change, and something you can live with. its never easy, god knows ive never been able to change my diet or exercise habits for long. but my roomate did, and she lost 50 lbs. im sure you can do a great job of it too.

Good luck on your diet and exercise, it can be a challenge.

Good for you. And you need a lot of protein if you’re working out especially since you’re a man so adding chicken, lean beef, fish, etc. is great for you.
