Rough, Rough weekend…
I hope everyone had a cheery weekend, cause mine was anything but. On Friday I had the mother of all stuffy noses, and was going through kleenix like it was going out of style. I felt like the undead, but went into work that day because it was Good Friday… and there was no way in hell I was going to pass up a chance to make double time and a half. So I took a full supply of tissues and slaved through the day and the entire weekend for that much with this nasty cold/flu. I’m actually starting to feel better now, but now both of the kids have the cold and that’s not a good thing. They’re having problems sleeping and that in turns keeps all of us awake.
You can tell when Ethan isn’t feeling well cause he’s moopy and wants to cuddle with everyone. It’s a sad sight, but the there are runny noses all around and we are going through trees by the acre. We got some cold medicine and hope that helps out but will ride through it and hope this eventually passes. The cool part is Mom was here for a visit, and was able to help out which was good timing on her part. With the late nights and the kids unable to sleep that well, we badly needed the extra help and it was great to have her here. I myself have been getting better but for most of the weekend I was pretty much out myself. To make things worse, that big get together that was planned for last weekend turned out to be a bust and was cancelled with little notice. After busting my ass to get that day off no less… nice, eh?
I had plans to do a few things with friends this week, but unfortunately a financial crisis forced me to bail on both events. We had a pipe burst outside the house that sprayed water for who knows how long and because of it, we got blasted with an extra $300 on our water bill. As a result I had to bail on some friends and what I am sure was going to be great times… but these things happen. Not everything is going to be roses, and while I feel like dirt for leaving them out in the cold… I hope my buds will realize it was something that was beyond my control and if it was my choice, I’d be with them in a New York moment. But we all know it happens, and I’ll do what I can to make it up to them another time.
Besides that, things are okay on the homefront. It was a tad chilly this weekend and it even snowed but I’m hoping things will warm up sooner rather than later. Work is work, and the book is coming along. After speaking with my parents about it, I’m working on a deadline to have a full first draft manuscript finished for late May when is the next time they plan to visit. It’s a goal that I think is very reachable because I have the whole thing in my head ready to spill out onto the pages. I know where I want to go with this, it’s time I just hit the road and floor it.
Hope everyone else had a decent weekend, and I’ll be around!
Peter
If they got a problem, tell ’em to get a deck of cards and deal. Broken water pipe’s a valid reason and they should even buy ya a beer next time to help you shake off the stress of that cost! The undead feel sicker than runny noses, yo. Also, Aaayyyyy!
Warning Comment
I was in Mississauga all weekend. Snow on and off! Stereotypical Canadian weather. 😛
