Time for a few updates…

I’ve spent the last two hours working on the novel, and it felt great to get back to it after a week away from it. After writing this entry, I’m going to give it another hour or two before hitting the sack. I love my kids dearly, but sometimes I have a hard time writing things down when they are using their outdoor voices indoors these days. After the meeting with the writer, I needed additional modivation to get things back on track again. Thanks to the great notes I got from my favs and some outside inspiration from another source, I’m back at the CPU and working on the manuscript again. I went to a small family gathering earlier this week, and it reminded me why I wanted to finish this book, and one of many reasons why I should. I’m not exactly going to go into detail about that, but I will say it was a slap I badly needed and here I am plugging away again like a good little writer.

Speaking of writing, recently I finished reading ‘Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows’. I liked the book, I really did but I didn’t like the ending too much. It reminded me a lot of Saw III. No, it wasn’t that gross, I just felt the writer tried too hard to top the other books instead of letting this book do its own thing… which is what the writer/director for Saw III did as well. But in all it was a smashing piece of work, but not one I would recommend for readers under 11. There is a lot of deaths in this book, and it’s not something I will be reading to my kids anytime this decade. At least half a dozen good characters meet their maker in this novel, and the overall bodycount in book 7 is more than the previous two novels combined! While I refuse to post spoilers, I felt it was necessary to make that warning for parents. As a reader, I loved this book… as a parent I would pass on it for now.

I’ve been glued to my televison set when it comes to two shows right now: Hell’s Kitchen and Big Brother 8. The US version of Big Brother has been rather fun to watch this year, and I will be posting some massive enties on that very, very soon. As for Hell’s Kitchen, nothing is more entertaining than watchign an angry Brit scream obscenities at Americans. Nothing! To pass some time as well, I recently burrowed and watched the entire first season of Supernatural. I’ve watched the second season, but now that I’ve watched the first, it all makes sense now and I really believe that Supernatural is one of the most underrated shows on television. If this show was on one of the big networks (rather than the crappy CW) it would be a smash hit. Then again, you could say that for half the shows on that network. That companies entire PR department needs to be fired, ASAP!

Speaking of underrated shows, someone over at Showtime has given Dexter fans an early Xmas gift. The first two episodes of Season 2 for Dexter were leaked online and have been downloaded about a zillion times. In January the first four episodes of 24 was leaked 7 days before it aired, but these episodes were leaked TWO MONTHS before they’re supposed to air! While I’m sure someone over at Showtime is having a shitfit over this, I wouldn’t be too upset if I was them. I’ve been so impressed by the quality of these two episodes that I am seriously considered resubscribing to watch the rest of them. So that leak might score them some more dough when people sign up to see more in October. I’ve loved this show for a while, and I can’t wait to see more! 🙂

I’ve got some shows that I am dying to catch again when the nes season starts. New episodes of Heroes, Supernatural, Smallville, House, CSI, and a boatload of others makes the new fall something to look forward too. I’ll have to wait until January to see new episodes of 24 and Jericho, but that’s better than nothing where Jericho is concerned.

For one last update: I’ve been stuck on one spot for the Blogathon. I’m going to make a big push this week for pledges, but so far $80 isn’t anything to scoff at. I’m hoping to get help from friends and family, but while I’m not going to be anywhere near the top bloggers, I’m happy with any amount I can make for what I think is truly a worthy cause. I hope you guys can help me out and I’ll do my thing this Saturday. Leah has a Stagette party to go to that night, but Chris has been a real lifesaver as he’s agreed to help out with the kids. The only bad news is that the digital camera is MIA. I left it somewhere and it will be unavailable for the Blogathon. I’ll have to work around that.

So that’s where I stand for now. I hope everyone is having a bitchin’ week and I’ll be around tomorrow to leave notes and maybe an entry or two if I’m not writing something else. Until then, later people!

Peter

This year, the blogathon is going to the dogs!

Thanks for making it impossible to sleep tonight by bringing up Saw. I saw the first one, and that damned clown and the guy waking up at the end still freak me out to no end. I refuse to see the next two, lol. SO THANKS! Another sleepless night! 🙂
