December 31, 2006.

The last day of the year.
I have 2476 pictures on Photobucket – some I haven’t posted yet, but will.
I have posted 1401 entries, counting this one, since Febrary 4th, 2004.
1187 Public entries.
168 Favs Only entries.
45 Private entries.

I have received 15,545 notes.
I have left 11,964 notes.

Since beginning to use the Site Meter on 10/29/06, I have had over 4000 visitors to my latest entries. I am averaging 85 visitors a day…. maybe only a handful of notes, yes, but dozens of people are reading or looking at what I post.
This "blog" is read in 11 countries;
The USA. Canada. Australia. Great Britain. Japan. China. France. Germany. Russia. Korea. South Africa.
That’s pretty cool.

Yay!!!
I don’t have to work until Tuesday, when school starts up again.
I will not be delivering the daily papers any more – I will have to buy one to read it.
I haven’t quit a job in almost 11 years.
(lost them due to health reasons, but haven’t quit one in a long time)
[I will just be dropping off the Sunday papers – two editons – on the weekends from now on]

Last year, on January First, I drove to Women’s Forum overlook in the Columbia Gorge to take pictures of the New Year’s Day sunrise.
My van is running extra smooth now. Since it has retired from the paper routes, I put the middle bench seat back in it – it now has seats for 7 again. I replaced the alternator this week – it is SO much quieter! A few months ago, I read on the Internet that if one gapped the spark plugs at .040 instead of the 0.35 called for on the tune up sticker under the hood that one could get more horsepower out of the 2.5 liter 4-cylinder engine.
It’s true, one can get more power that way… but it runs rougher, and more power costs more gasoline – the mileage went down a bit. I re-gapped the plugs to their correct settings and the van runs extra smooth now; the transmission shifts more properly, and the gas mileage has improved.
I like my van better now.
I don’t know if I will drive to the gorge in the morning.
Maybe I’ll just sleep in, like I did today. Almost 8 hours of sleep, and I feel like a new cat.
OK, one that’s nearly 45, yeah, but a new cat nonetheless.

New day.
New Year.
New life? Maybe.
New girlfriend? Dunno.
New NWC?
Almost certainly.
More pictures?
Yes.

Onwards.
Today is Sunday. Are you not doing papers at all anymore? I’m sure you’ve written about it and I missed or misunderstood – I thought you were going to do week-ends? Glad you feel better – and hope the van behaves!

What are you doing tonight for New Year’s? Anything? Nothing?

Amazing, isn’t it?

I think you did a wise think by giving up your paper route, except on weekends. Your were probably stretching yourself a little too thin by delivering weekday papers and also driving the school bus on the same day.
