Photographic metaphors

I take a good picture.  I’ve got a good camera, but you know, it’s not so much the camera as it is the eyes behind it.  yeah, yeah, I know that sounds vain and stuck up, but what am I gonna do, be mock humble or something?

Life is choices.  Do I cross this bridge or stay where I am?

multnomah falls, 12-30-07

On the one side, a life and living situation I know and am (almost) totally comfortable with.

On the other, well, I can see Beauty… in the near distance…  but who knows what’s around the next bend?  I can’t see it from here – does the path go on?  Does it lead to better, more beautiful things?

Or not?

On this path, on the one side, a steep drop.  It’s wet, and raining, and there are no sure footholds on that slope.  We leave this path at great peril.

the path to glory, to great beauty

On the other side, well, you can see why there’s a rock fence there, can’t you?  And how bent out of shape it is?  Rockfalls happen here with little or no warning.  We hope the rock fence is strong, that it will deflect the rock that has our names on it, but hope is not as much protection as being somewhere else.

In any disaster, the best place to be… is somewhere else.

Disaster waiting to happen?  Or the risk we must take to get to where we think we want to be.

One day at a time! I don’t think she’s going anywhere soon (only has the very uninterested boyfriend!). You don’t owe her anything. You owe yourself a good life. If you can each bring something to the table, then fine. But neither of you should rescue the other one. Pursue it, but take it easy. And be true to yourself. Remember, you pulled yourself up by your bootstraps the last ten years.

Love the pictures…and I do agree that the eyes behind the camera make a big difference in artistic photograhy like yours. I also love the reflective writing. Take care.

Sometimes you need to take the path where the end does not yet appear….. that is the part that makes life exhilarating, fun and exciting. When you take the risk, you get to see what lays ahead. Sometimes you are pleasantly surprised, sometimes dismayed because you have put in lots of time and effort to get there, only to find at first glance that nothing has changed all that much. But then …

something catches your eye that fills you with joy, with wonder and glee… a vision so beautiful, you wonder how you missed it at first….with renewed interest you focus in and absorb the scene before you and drink in all it offers to impart.Peace fills your soul, you are now so glad you made the time and effort to get where you are! (Life is like this isn’t it?) Onwards and upwards Cat!

Ps, absolutely beautiful!! Wish I was there right now!!!

PPs, I believe God has given us his Son Jesus to show the right path to walk on… one that leads us onwards to the paradise of Heaven…. All other routes lead to danger and peril just as if you would jump off this path down to the slippery sides that lead to death…(just another thought to add…) Your description of this scene reminds me of this.

Absolutely beautiful. I would love to walk across that bridge. Of course one thing I want to do this year is take a few more risks – what bad will really happen – it is fear that I fear most. 🙂

RE: Yep, the Power Rangers were on FOX for a long time. Channel 54 for me. I liked Ace of Base a lot. Wow. I never knew that Japanese people liked American music!

The bridge shot is absolutely lovely. Taking photos and writing are good ways to make connections and clarify thinking. Take it slowly…be honest with her…be honest with yourself…it will all work out.

this is a thoughtful entry. always, always, just be yourself. of course, these photos are great. yep, the camera doesn’t lie. it’s the person behind the camera that makes the photos work or not.
