first time this year
For the first time this year I took a night off delivering the newspapers. I distribute the Sunday Oregonian twice on the weekends; the First Edition on Saturday and the Final on Sunday. Out of 52 weekends in the year, I have taken one half of one weekend off.
The Black Friday papers were BIG, for a weekday paper, and I had around 2000 of them to drop off. I hurt my back that night – twisted wrong, or picked up something wrong, and my back has been hurting ever since.
I had to laugh yesterday; the papers were in bundles of 12s. I dropped 8 off at one of my Starbucks (I have five on my route). I set ’em down on the floor and tried to get up and WHAM!, my back went out and I nearly screamed like a little girl. Well, swore like a sailor, more like it. I was about 1/3rd of the way through my route, so I finished it, as careful as I could, and came home to rest and lie down.
I woke up from my nap and DID NOT roll out of bed like usual. Ooooowwwww! (Actually, I laughed. It’s not funny but laughing feels like a better response than swearing a blue streak). My cousin last week gave me some horse-pill sized Ibuprophens, and they help some, but when I woke up yesterday afternoon from my nap and couldn’t stand without swearing/laughing, I called the boss and told him I could really use the night off.
It was the first and only night off all year I’ve taken.
My back DID NOT magically loose it’s pain. I hate having to think about moving – will that hurt? Ooooowwwww!
I’m hoping it isn’t something like the pinched nerves I had in 08 – hadda have an operation to fix that – $12,000. I don’t have no Health Insurance now. Maybe it’s age (no. I’m only 47. That ain’t old).
Anyway. it was the first and only Saturday night I’ve taken off all year.
Last weekend of 2009
The next time I work, it’ll be 20 10.

I’m sorry to hear about your back…no fun at all. I hope your boss stops to appreciate how constant you’ve been through the year.

Ummm I hate to tell you that I doubt it will majically go away on it’s own but I will tell you a secret. When I have a glitch I can’t get rid of, I take Calcium-Magnesium 3-4 of them together act as natural muscle relaxant. Take at night before you got to bed. You might need like 4-5 see if that will help take it a few nights. They come combined at the drug store or walmart.

I take them anyway but I take more for glitches. TWENTY-TEN can you imagine?
