Roadtrip options
Monday is roadtrip day. It’s been planned and despite recent developments, must take place.
I wanted to go to the Blue Basin unit of John Day Fossil Beds Nat’l Monument
(I drove out to the Painted Hills unit in 2009)

It looks like a shorter trip might be in order, and I’ve been wondering where I want to drive.
We could go to the east end of the Gorge, above The Dalles:

This is part of The Historic Columbia River Highway.
*
*
*
We can combine that drive with a visit to Oneonta Tunnel:

*
*
*
I suppose we could go up to Larch Mountain:

*
*
*
There’s a helluva a view from up there:

Mt. Hood. Dozens of miles away.
*
*
*
Mt. Rainier, 140 miles away:

*
*
*
We could go to Stonehenge, near Maryhill, Washington:

We won’t be seeing this Monday:

Probably not.

Are these people friends or what? I’d suggest casually bring up the subject that you are no longer gainfully employed and hint that the gas situation might be critical. Maybe they will pitch in on a tank of gas. Maybe???

Multnomah Falls iced over would be neat to see. To lasergirl: I am one of the road trip companions and I am worried about paying rent next month. I can’t get food stamps and I have high medical expenses. I suggested staying in town as an idea after reading about the loss of the newspaper job. The other road trip companion works very part-time only.

Is that the royal we, or do you have a companion on this trip?
