work, of a kind

It’s not a steady job or anything.

My biker friend A had had someone staying with him; a biker acquaintance or something. I’m A’s tech guy; I have a computer and (think I know how to use it); I got a plane ticket online for the guy a few weeks ago, to go round trip to Texas for something or other.

They guy has been staying with A since January or maybe even from December (I don’t quite remember). At one point, he moved to Grant’s Pass, 246 miles south of Portland, but things didn’t work out there and he came back to Portland (Oregon City, really).

A called this morning and asked me if I could give the guy a ride to and from Grant’s Pass tomorrow. Hmmm. Ten hours plus on the Interstate with my black baby (09 Dodge Caliber). We’d be, it looks like, driving through heavy weather; there’s a few passes we’d have to go over.

Supposedly, we’d be leaving tomorrow morning and presumably back tomorrow night. I’m gonna watch the Noon News and then go down to Oregon City to plan this out.

It used to be that I didn’t have weekends free; I distributed 1400 newspapers on Saturdays and Sundays.

It used to be that a long trip like to Grant’s Pass and back might have been done in a 40 foot bus.

I much prefer driving the Caliber.

Hmmm. Ten hours of straight highway driving.

We can do that.
