OMG is this working?!

I left a note on EWS’s diary last night using my husbands diary. I had been totally locked out of mine. I could see the front page, but got error codes for everything else.

I noted some people from his diary, and I got a note back from someone saying that this diary was working like a dream agin. I was like really?! So here I am and I can write! I also read some of my faves.

I have a ton of stuff to do right now so I will be back later to write a real entry.

I will be happy if OD will work as it was last night. But I am finding that it is NOT. It is always worse during the day. I think that OD should find another host … as the people hosting OD right now are not doing a very good job. Any other site would be screaming at them for their poor performance. Like normally 99.99% up time with adequate performance is the industry standard.

But it is definitely working better than it normally does. I just feel sorry for you .. as you should not have any more problems than anyone else. This is of course not the case. I do not expect things will ever change, as they are obviously accepting of the poor performance. I think that OD should start charging money for everyone .. and pay for some better hosting. I know that I would pay .. and

would be happier for it. Cause the way it is running is not acceptable. I was reading a guys diary last night and he has been here for 2 weeks and is already sick of OD’s performance. He called it worse than dial up. I would agree, I am a member of some other forums on the net and sure they do go down at times. But the performance is always good overall, nothing like the problems we have here.

You know .. I would be able to handle OD if it was slow as long as it worked. The fact that it is slow and it doesn’t work is the main issue. But I think that the diarymaster doesn’t want to start charging people. I think that the hardcore people that love OD would pay a few dollars a year to see better performance. Oh well. I read a note today that someone observed when there’s 5,000+ active ODists listed on the front page, then they start to experience issues. Certain diaries seem to be more affected than others. Friday, OD was running fast, even on my work computer! I was shocked! Problems again today, though :/ I just kept loading and re-loading your page until it finally didn’t time out.

I have a harder time getting to your diary than any of my other friends. It keeps saying timed out

I giggle at elven.assassin .. he has learned my refresh trick and how to deal with the problem we know as OD. It is running no worse or better than normal. Hope that you can get on later and make your entry. Take care.

RYN: Sorry for not replying until now, but I wasn’t on OD over the weekend. The site does seem to be running somewhat smoother today. I know the DM has been in communication with the hosting company for our databases about the site-wide slow downs. It looks like some progress has been made. I too get a lot of errors when trying to get to your diary. I try to stay on top of it, but it’s hard. 🙁
