day one*

day one of dennis being away. we filled our day hanging out and watching TV and having breakfast and lunch. after sawyer’s nap, we went for a walk (a fairly long one) to a craft sale where i promptly discovered i had to have cash to buy. oops. there wasn’t that much to be impressed with but i did see a scrapbook kit i liked. i might decided to go back tomorrow, after grabbing some cash. the only ATM in town charges some outrageous fee though, so i might skip it. i felt really uncomfortable there, like people were looking at me funny. i really don’t know what is wrong with people in this town. they are NOT welcoming at all.

we stopped at the store and rented movies on our way back. i got a movie called Gracie and grabbed In the Land of Women before the owner could put it back on the shelf. hopefully they’re enjoyable and fill this first Saturday alone. i’ll do some scrapping too.

i think finding a house is going to be tough. i’m not seeing a lot i like and the prices are so high. we’ll have to get an agent. it just makes sense. we have one for here and he sells houses there (the guy is everywhere!! seriously, all over this and other counties, cities, towns) so we might just use him for both. i don’t know though. i might like to meet with some and pick a nice woman to work with. we met one when we checked out an open house in another town and i like the idea of a nice, warm woman like her. the agent we’ll sell through isn’t pushy though, so he might be best. he doesn’t try to talk you into anything at all. or out of it. he’s pretty easy-going…which might not be great for our sale. his commission is fairly low (for us, he’s offering 4.5%) too. and he knows this area.

i’d like to see this one but it’s overpriced (we’ve agreed it’s not worth asking):

i’m interested in seeing this 3 bed, 2 bath (1 partial) as well. not as fancy but we can work with that. our house wasn’t decorated very well when we got here either but it had good floors, doors, etc. as this one does.

this 3 bedroom, 3 level sidesplit one has 1 full and 5 partial bathrooms apparently. that’s far too many bathrooms to clean and sounds like a mistake but still interested in seeing it:

those three are all around the same price (one is $10 000 less.) weird, eh?

so much to think about and be excited for. and a lot to be thankful for, if you look underneath.

*ETA: i forgot to mention what i’d like to find in a house:

dining room

bigger kitchen

3 bedrooms

larger living room or average size living room but we’d need an office/extra room

dishwasher would be nice or room for one, as would a laundry room on main level

fenced yard

decent neighbourhood

i’m not that concerned with the outside as long as i can work with the inside. i do prefer victorians but they’re probably not going to fall in our price range. i like brick otherwise.

i am really glad people up north can decorate. because it irks me so badly that this house isn’t decorated because john’s mom is constantly working on something. it took her 7 months to finish the bathroom, and it’s STILL not even DONE completely. UGH! she has to build everything herself. then it comes out crooked and shit, it’s agonizing. esp since i went to ikea today and died a million times because i wanted to take the store home! i love the houses, i do.

That second one down is nice; I love the red outside and the red walls in the kitchen

I definitely think you could work with that second one. The third one…I’m dying to see what 5 partial bathrooms are LOL Why would you need more bathrooms than bedrooms anyway!?

With the price of homes being so much better where you live, i wonder if there is just a much larger middle class, and a lot fewer people living paycheck to paycheck? I can’t imagine that salaries are significantly lower. When i hear about nice, affordable places like that it makes me wonder why everyone doesn’t move there. I guess we’re all just used to where we grew up and it seems strange

to take off and start over in a new place, even if it’s safe-looking and attractive and the homes / home prices are amazing. I hope the days pass quickly for you. Let us know if those movies are good!

All the houses you’re looking at have lovely, large kitchens. I like a big kitchen too, even though I don’t cook much lol. Inside wise, I like the 1st one by leaps and bounds. It’s a shame it’s overpriced. Maybe an agent would be a good idea! Let them do all the hard work lol.
