baby, baby, stick your head in gravy

My sister went to the hospital saturday evening. They checked her for dilation and effacement, and she is 3cm dilated, and 75% effaced. She is officially in early labor. w00t. (for those who don’t know, early labor can last several weeks). the closer it gets, the more surreal it seems. She’s no longer working now, and she’s been coming over here daily to get the room ready. Once the baby’s born, they’re all moving in here–that’s why I had to switch bedrooms, which is a whole other story, which I keep meaning to get into but… not really forgetting, but just… yea. I’ve been working a lot.

Speaking of things that seem more surreal the closer they get. I went to New York on Wednesday/Thursday of this past week. I did the whole class-registering thing, and got fitted for my uniform. I also toured the dorm where I’m going to be living. It’s going to be so strange living with a roommate again, after having lived alone for so long.

I also, while i was in the city, met up with a friend that I’ve been chatting with online the last couple of weeks. He used to live in the area where the dorms are located, so he showed me around the area, which was really nice. It’s good to know that I already have a friend in the city when I get up there, although it’s seeming already that there may be some difficulty in getting our schedules to match up.

Speaking of schedules though, I’m going to have off every single thursday, and every other wednesday. It’ll be like having two weekends! 😛

I drove down to baltimore yesterday, because I suspected that some of my tax information (specifically my W-2’s from Xando’s and the Rec Center) got sent to my old apartment (lets nevermind the fact that I still possess the keys that I should no longer have) so I was going to check my mail, and also go visit Maygan becuase I miss her like whoa. My W-2’s weren’t there. And I still have the keys. I ended up crashing at Maygan’s for the night, and driving home this morning (I don’t have to be at work til 3 in the afternoon).

I was going to write a whole entry just about this next part, but then I realized I seriously needed to update, and I’m too tired and lazy to make the entry contemplative and artistic like I had intended to. Let me just say this though. Nothing quite fills up your rear-view mirror like the view of a police car with flashing lights. Three and a half years I’ve had my license and not once been pulled over for anything, not even so much as a broken taillight. What pisses me off most though, is I wasn’t even blatently speeding. On the interstate, I know what the speed limit is, and I’ll consciously drive faster than that, mostly to keep up with traffic, but also just because. Where I was pulled over, (a) the speed limit wasn’t even posted, so I didn’t Know what it was.. and (b) when the cop told me how fast I was going, I was just like… you have got to be shitting me! there’s no WAY I was doing nearly fifty. and he was such an asshole about it too, so I couldn’t even do my crying girl routine (although I did cry, because I was just in such shock and disbelief. i don’t get pulled over! i’m not a bad driver! and get away with it. Ninety fucking dollars. goddammit. I fully believe the only reason he didn’t let me off with a warning is b/c i was from out-of-state. Oh the best part? this happened less than a mile away from Maygan’s house. yea. sonofabitch.

If you can read this note than the email I sent you doesn’t pertain anymore. I guess it was just a glitch in the OD system for about an hour and that is why I couldn’t get into my diary.
