Some Good TV, Good Friends, Great Shopping
Yesterday was a decent day, given what happened early on in the morning. I’ll elaborate. I was working on some transcribing when I got messaged by my soon to be sister-in-law. She was messaging me to let me know that a mutual friend of ours had died. Apparently, the friend had ODed. I don’t know what her drug of choice was. I never asked. I do know that for a long while she was doing much better so that she could take care of her three young children.
At the time of my move to Florida, she was clean, and had a new boyfriend who was taking care of her. So I don’t know what happened. Maybe stress? Whose to say? I know one thing, drug addiction, like any other addiction, is not a pretty thing. And now three beautiful, young, children will be without their mother for the rest of their lives. I hope they can go to the boyfriend rather than their fathers because those men were deadbeats, and only cared about getting a piece of ass.
Barring that, I had a good day yesterday. The new season of The Toys that Made Us dropped on Netflix, so I watched 2 of the 4 episodes. I still wish that they would make the seasons so much longer. There are literally thousands of toys and fads they could talk about from the old school days. But I’m also very happy we get any new episodes at all. After some more work today, I am going to watch the final two episodes of this season.
After the second episode, my friend and her gentleman friend picked me up for dinner and gaming. I went to Ron’s BBQ for the first time since I’ve been down here. It was so good. Nothing tastes better than pulled pork fresh. And their hush puppies. Don’t even get me started! The only bad thing I really did last night was the copious amount of Dr. Pepper/Mr. Pibb I drank. I paid for it the rest of the night, but more about that later.
After dinner we went to Gulfview Mall, and I introduced them to my favorite card game, Fluxx! If you’ve never played Fluxx and you like card games? You’re missing out. They both picked up on it pretty quickly. I didn’t win any of the games we played, but it was fun just to teach them. It consider it payback because the last time the three of us had gotten together, they had taught me Phase 10, another card game I really like. (Seriously, I play it a lot on my phone now. So. Obsessed.)
After three games, I was ready to get up and some walking. I first went to Hot Topic. I had recently been approved for a line of credit through them, so I took advantage of it to increase the amount of Hufflepuff merchandise I had. I’ve really become a Potter nerd over the last few years, and I’m not ashamed to admit it. I also got this shirt that says, “When In Doubt, Go to the Library~ Hermione Granger”. Because you can never have enough Harry Potter shirts in your life, right? Now if i could just figure out what I did with my Hufflepuff shirt from California last year, that’d be great.
Then I went to Best Buy. This is where things get a little strange. See, after gaming, my friend gave me $20.00. I didn’t ask for it, and I tried to tell her I really didn’t need it, but she insisted. I’ve never been great in those situations. Granted, I would’ve been okay without being able to get anything, but when someone insists, you don’t want to insult them. SO I took the 20.00 and decided that I would find a way to pay her back. (She also said she wouldn’t take traditional repayment, but I am a crafty person (quite literally) and I am planning to pay her back at Christmas time. Anyway, so I got the final Maze Runner movie. I will also say this for Best Buy. Their Blu-ray/DVD section is a sad state of affairs. There were only a few DVDs that had just been released, and I was lucky to have even found The Death Cure. As it turns out, I bought one of the last two copies. Now I just need Allegiant, and I will be caught up on all of my dystopian movies (until The Darkest Minds comes out in August).
And now it’s Saturday again ,so I’m gonna get some Rev work done again. I have a lot of Comcast files to transcribe, and I wanna get them done and have my total go from 13.00 to something a bit more reasonable for the week. 🙂
