Sunday 12/31/23

7:27a.m. I had a good night. I fell asleep around nine after reading my Bible. I didn’t have any weird nightmares or arthritis pain. I also got changed a couple times. Aides got me up at five. They cleaned me up changed my briefs dressed me and got me in my wheelchair.

I called Chocolatechip and we talked for a few minutes. Then I fell asleep in my chair. I slept until they served coffee and breakfast. I had bacon, scrambled eggs and a coffee cake. It was pretty good and I ate it all.

Chocolatechip called after I ate. She was taking a shower and saw a frigging bed bug crawling up the wall. She killed it and flushed it. Chocolatechip said she hadn’t seen any since Elaine’s visit. Anyways Chocolatechip was doing laundry. She talked about how expensive it is to use the washer and dryer.

I mentioned about reading five Chapters in Numbers. I went on abou all the laws and commandments the ancient Jews had to obey. I said the Bible was hard to read but very interesting. She said I must be learning a lot about the Bible. I said I forget half of what I read but I keep at it. We talked until she had to check on her laundry.

The nursing home is having a special luncheon to celebrate new years day. They will serving Chinese food. I hope I get to go because I love Chinese . I hope they will be having the regular coffee social today. I just got their menu. The coffee social is on

9:25a.m. I’m in the Fiesta Room waiting for coffee. Just one other guy is here. I just finished chatting with Chocolatechip. She put a roast in the crockpot earlier. It is almost done. I said I bet it will be good. Also said how much I missed her. I wish I was back in Misery Towers for New Year’s Eve.

10:50a.m. I’m back in my room. I wanted to stay there for lunch. But it was a bit cold. Also, I was feeling lonesome and depressed. I wanted to talk with Chocolatechip. I called when I got back but no answer. I might go back. The Chinese luncheon starts at 11:30. I love Chinese food and I would hate to miss out.

11:17a.m. I’m getting a workout today from wheeling myself up and down the hall. I’m back in the Fiesta Room waiting for that echinoderms food. This made me think of all the times I used to take Chocolatechip to the Fun Buffet in Weirton. They had an all you can eat Chinese buffet that was outstanding. It was a nice date and we had the best times. Thinking of this made me sad and I missed those days.

1:30p.m. I went back to the Fiesta Room for lunch. I had a delicious Chinese meal. I had an egg roll with beef and broccoli over rice. They even gave me a glass of sparkling cider and yet more coffee. The bout with depression left me and I had a pretty good time.

Once again I wheeled myself back to my room. I called Chocolatechip. She had a good dinner herself. She gave a plate to Eddie the Mooch. Chocolatechip said she has plenty, enough for a couple of days. Then she has that ham Chocolatechip said she will use that for sandwiches. I said that is a good idea.

I’m in a very good mood right now thanks to four coffees and Al good meal. My only bitch today is they hoyer pad. It is hurting like hell. The aides can’t help me because they are taking care of lunch trays. I’ll probably have to sit on my wheelchair before the they put me to bed That will be for at least an hour.

I’m going to put my time to good use. I started reading The Dark Tower before lunch. I didn’t get very far because it was too noisy. I hope to read a couple hours this afternoon. It depends on low long I can put up with this hoyer pad. The damned thing is really cutting into my butt.

3:00p.m. I am in bed now. I had to wait an hour for the aides. They were friendly though and did a good job. She put cream on my sores before changing my briefs. It sure feels good to be off the Hoyer pad.

I’m going back to my book The Dark Tower by Stephen King.

5:44p.m. I wasn’t very hungry so I didn’t eat supper. They served a chicken salad sandwich, coleslaw and a peach cobbler. I ate the coleslaw and cobbler. That was enough to make me a bloated.

I am at a particularly gruesome and scary part in my book. It was hard to read so I didn’t get very far. I ended up talking to Chocolatechip for an hour. I would rather do that than read Stephen King.

7:28p.m. I didn’t eat supper .I didn’t like what they served. I had a chicken salad sandwich, coleslaw and a peach cobbler. I ate the coleslaw andf cobbler. That was enough to make me bloated. Then I talked with Chocolatechip. We talked until she went to bed.

I read The Dark Tower for an hour. Then the battery on my favorite tablet went dead. Thank God I have a back up.

I haven’t done my daily Bible reading yet. I will do that before going to sleep. I’ve been keeping up with my studies every night. I Don’t want to fall behind.

8:36p.m. I spent the last hour reading Chapters 12- 17 of Numbers. Once again I find it very interesting. I also found it very sad. These chapters tell how the Israelites were punished by the Lord for their disobedience. On more than one occasion God was going to destroy them. But Moses humbly pleaded for mercy. God listened to Moses because Moses obeyed God. I’m halfway through Numbers.

Well, three hours are left in 2023. I never thought I would live this long. I did a lot of stupid things in my life. I truly believe God must of been looking out for me. I am truly blessed.
