A Night For Baseball

Tonight (04/29/25) was Tony Gwynn 1982 Rookie Bobblehead night.  Maybe, just maybe, the man we know as “Mr. Padre” was smiling down on us and the team tonight?  Maybe.  I like to think he was.

The San Diego Padres beat the visiting San Francisco Giants, 7-4, ending the Padres four-game losing streak.  Already at this point in the young season, this game was being regarded as a must-win.  The last thing the Padres needed would have been a five-game losing streak, but regardless, the Padre faithful will take a win any day of the week, especially against a division rival.

It’s been my finding that going to a baseball game, at least for me, has a very calming, relaxing, and even therapeutic effect.  As soon as the first pitch was thrown, whatever problems I thought I had in my life (i.e. work stress, needlessly strained relationships, financial challenges) were briefly whisked away.  Those problems wouldn’t return to my head and world for about three hours, though the temporary relief was more than appreciated.

At 6:40pm, it was game time and I thoroughly enjoyed myself, even after the game ended.  Eventually, that elation from the victory wore off and I found myself right back in the life that I had momentarily left behind.  It was bound to happen and it did.  I slept well enough and then it was back to work and business as usual.

My brother and his wife have season tickets and they’re always taking in games.  I attend one or two games a season with them.

Win or lose, going to baseball games is always a good time, especially at Petco Park in downtown San Diego.  This sort of experience will never get old and Petco Park is definitely a great venue for baseball.

LFGSD, no doubt!

Yeah the Padres are good but my teams are the Orioles and the Yankees. ^^ Why? Baltimore is close to my heart, and the Yanks come from the same part of NYC as my dad does. C:
